Meditation for Fearful People and a Giveaway!

An interview with my good friend Angela Artemis from Powered by Intuition. 

If you have ever wanted to become a meditator, now is the time. Angela Artemis and her business partner Steven Aitchison have created a new product, The ReAwakening Guided Meditation System. I have personally used it and find it to be outstanding. 

Angela, can you please introduce yourself to The Bold Life readers who may not know you.  

I'm an author, intuition coach and former meditation instructor. I write primarily about using your intuition to create success in your life by using meditation to develop intuition. My focus on using intuition to create success in life comes from the many years I struggled in my own life.

Once I learned that the secret of success is tied to living an intuitively inspired life it changed my life dramatically. I want to share these insights and help people avoid making the same mistakes I made in my life by ignoring my intuition.

How long have you been meditating? How has meditation impacted your life?

I've been meditating for more than 25 years now. It has totally transformed me and my life. I am not the same person. I'm calm, self assured and confident – even BOLD at times, all because I have learned to "tame my mind."

I'm not taken on flights of hysteria when things "appear" to by going wrong. I stay calm and centered and do not fly off the handle and consequently not only do things tend to work out for the best but I'm happy and upbeat 99.99 percent of the time.

Developing a daily meditation practice is the single most important thing I have ever done for myself. 

Why is  it so important to incorporate meditation into our lives?

Meditating daily is like taking vitamins for the soul. I feel completely at peace and rarely worry about the future. I trust that things will always work out for the best and they do.

When you calm the mind you "see" more clearly. You understand how much of the drama in life is self-manufactured. When you cut the drama life is calm and a joy.

You appreciate what you have and see every thing as being just as it should. You are serene no matter what is going on around you. When you live life this way there is no struggle.

Letting go of our attachment to struggling and just "being" is the answer and that is how you become after you have been meditating for a while. 

What do you think are the most significant health benefits of meditation?

Meditation relaxes you which lowers your heart rate and thereby your blood pressure. When you are stressed your heart has to work much harder due to all the hormones that are released when we are under pressure.

Meditation will put a stop to this. With practice over time the feeling of calm and relaxation will last all day. Not to mention that reducing stress reduces the aging process. Meditation can help you look more youthful too!

What message do you have for people who are too busy to meditate? 

It's the old adage of "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" If you're too busy to meditate you are the one who needs it the most!! The stress of a busy life needs to be balanced with some powerful form of relaxation to stave off the negative effects on your health.

You owe it to yourself, you heart and your loved ones to do this so, that you are around for a long, long time. The ReAwakening was developed for just such a busy person.

Most of the meditations are less then 11 minutes. Now, who can't find 11 minutes to benefit their health and calm down?

I’ve heard that it’s possible to heal an addiction with daily meditation. Do you think that’s true? 

Yes, absolutely. When you meditate what happens is that over a period of time you become centered emotionally, calm and in control of your thoughts and reactions.

You develop amazing will power and lose your craving for the things you were addicted to. It's a well known fact that bad habits "fall away" quite naturally with meditation practice.

You just lose your desire for these things as you return to an inner state of balance – what we call "being centered."

When you are centered there are no more wild mood swings that drive your addictions. It's like being in the "eye of the storm" where all is calm when you learn to be centered.

What suggestions do you have for someone who is brand new to meditation?

Using a guided meditation alleviates two of the biggest stumbling blocks for new meditators. You don't have to worry about what "meditation" to learn.

You don't have to fear your mind will wander. Once you know that all you have to do is pop on your headphones and listen – you can relax and allow the guided meditation to do the "heavy lifting" for you. Just lie back and reap the benefits. 

Can you briefly tell us about The Reawakening Guided Meditation System? 

The ReAwakening Meditation System is a group of specially worded guided meditations that take you into a very deep state of relaxation.

There are 10 meditations - recorded by Steve Aitchison and by me so you have your choice of listening to a male voice or a female voice. The program includes three books and a workbook.

Once you receive the program you are given detailed instructions as to which meditations to listen to and the books you are to read on each day. By day 16 you will have completed the program and will feel like a new person.  

At the end of the program you will also find a surprise bonus meditation along with four other fabulous bonuses all part of the overall theme of making your life hugely successful!

I use it and I'm an advance meditator. The program is for beginners and advance meditators. The program is a full system and includes an entire book on how to use meditation to manifest your goals and desires so, that's certainly for both beginners and long time meditators. 

Can this program help people live a more fearless life. If so, how?

Absolutely! When you've been meditating for a while the same thing that happens with addictions happens with fears. They tend to fall away. What you're left with is "clear sailing" to live a bold and fearless life where the sky is the limit.

    Sounds interesting indeed Tess!

    Yes, I do practice meditation, though lately I haven’t got down to doing it for various reasons. But yes, I know there should never be any excuses for doing things you want and should do. :)

    I practice TM (Transcendental Meditation), if you have ever heard about it, and it’s really calming and de-stresses you completely. I really haven’t tired, nor felt the need to try another way to calm my nerves as this has been working well for me for years now.

    However, I would surely be checking out and learning more about The Reawakening Guided Meditation System.

    I do not practice meditation but the universe seems to keep sending me nudges that lead me to think I should. If I meditated I think it would help me remember what’s most important to my experience of this life, I would be more grounded and make decisions easier.

    I have practice TM (Transcendental Meditation) in the past. When I do, I feel more relax and more aware of the stress in my personal life. Would be interesting to try a different meditation style.

    I do not meditate but it has been on my “to-do” list for a long time. I think meditation would help me feel more focused, centered, and calm. I think it would it would help me identify and focus on my priorities.

    I meditate occasionally .. usually when I feel out of control, which is quite regularly recently. I find it hard to concentrate though as my mind is constantly chattering throughout the day.

    If I could practice on a more frequent basis, I think I would begin to stat living in the present…. something I desperately need to learn to do!

    I have long felt meditation would be of benefit to me. Be still and know. I’m not so good at the being still part. I think I would hear a lot more from God and others if I learn to be still.

    My hope for meditation would be to QUIET my mind. I mean, I have asked my husband/kids “what are you thinking about” and they reply “nothing” and I just marvel and ask “What is that like?!”

    This is an excellent interview. Angela, I’m impressed with the results you’ve experience with meditation and the confidence you now feel. I agree that meditation is the most important gift we can ever give to our selves. It has so many practical benefits from lowering blood pressure to support our immune system, and helping us feel more relaxed and more confident. But most important, it helps us see reality as it is, which is often quite different than we’ve imagined! This brings us so much freedom. I’ve also been meditation and instructing meditation courses for a number of years, and am always so inspired by the transformations I see within people. Wishing you all the best with your program.

    I do not currently practice meditation in any formal way. I have a number of sound tracks that I listen to sporadically, both Solfeggio and some of Tom Kenyon’s “Sound Gifts”. I would like to add meditation to the mix. I believe that it will help me to continue my journey towards personal empowerment and navigating the events in my life in a more relaxed manner, which in turn will allow me to spread the benefits and help those around me along their own journeys.

    I have tried meditation many times but just couldn’t get into it…I would love to learn a new way though, this looks like a good one! I think meditation would really help me to relax and not be so rushy all of the time.

    I do not know how to meditate. i am always going or on the go. I need to slow down and take some time for myself. I recently went on vacation if you can call it that. I went with my husband and we stay with friends. The friends fought the whole time we where there. We received a call from my husband family that his father was not doing well.So we left the friends and headed to the fathers house. On the way there we were hit by another driver on the hwy. After being there two days, his fathers electric went out and we just sat with no electric for over 24 hours. Now I really need a vacation.

    I love to get out of bed in the morning and after brushing my teeth, walk to my sacred yoga and meditation space, grab my zafu and sit right on down … I look forward to it each day and it helps me to WANT to get up. I tap into my spiritual place on the cushion, focus on my breath, notice my good self and all around me and then stretch and enter my day! A good practice.     I have tried meditating a number of times over the past few years, but cannot seem to stick with it; I often fall asleep before I seem to get started :D I am at a point in my life — I want to learn how to meditate and reap the total benefits from it, and like a good habit — keep it with me always.

    So many stresses in my life right now. Can’t let go and can’t turn that projector off in my head. When I’m done with one “reel” I go to the next. I am hoping meditation will help me turn it “off”.

    I am relatively new to meditation and and am in the process of fine tuning/tweaking the process and ritual that I go through to create conditions favorable for my mind and body to relax and benefit. I am a busy lawyer who comes to work every day to deal with crisis in one form or another. Either my client’s crisis or how the pressure of their issues affect me. With professional help I have tried to de- catastrophise these thoughts and one approach to do that is to find a way to think more clearly and just chill. So, here I am in a busy office and I feel like I am in the eye of the storm whether or not that is the reality. I am trying to take 5 or 10 min to hunker down several times a day to meditate so that the sore stress induced neck pain and the over the top doomsday thoughts are at least turned down a notch. It is hard to get the right quiet conditions in my office to do this but I have had some success so I am very encouraged. I am also a long distance runner and my running has also proven to be a positive influence in my life for many reasons, but certainly the release or sorting out of stressful thoughts while I run has become an awesome benefit. I look at running as moving meditation,that the rhythm of my body contributes significantly to the natural high that I achieve. I feel that while the path ahead may be a marathon( more likely an ultra marathon) that these 2 techniques have helped me immensely in the early going.

    I practice various forms of mindfulness meditation from simple Buddhist style, Tai Chi (sometimes called moving meditation, though it’s a serious martial art as well) and practice to weirder stuff like Quantum Entrainment. Whatever the method, I wish everyone would do it, as it brings so much well-being and ease, that bumps in life become so much more fluidly handled, including developing fearlessness. I love your honesty and authenticity of your experience, thanks for sharing!

    I’ve just started meditation a couple of weeks ago and went from frantic, screaming, frustrated stay at home mom, to a smiling, non-screaming and happier person. I stopped looking at life as hard, frustrating and sad and saw that i have so much to be grateful about. I stopped sweating the small stuff and somehow they seam so much easier to solve! I can say without exageration that meditation saved me from insanity.

    thank you for your enriching story about the lost and found camera. Your articles are si enpowering and even I am a new reader, appreciate all the words you put together into great stories. Just few months ago we have started up our own little business and more than before I experience how important it is to have time hto relax and recharge the batteries. Meditation might be the way to solve thisloaded current status of being overloaded. I have no direct experience with meditation
    but would love to integrate this to my daily plan. Regards, Martina

    I like the sound of this program.

    I believe meditation is good to allow you to access deeper parts of your mind, and combined with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to let go of what comes up makes it even more powerful.

    Reminds me to get back into meditation, I mainly do EFT at the moment and a few other things and have been spending most of my time on that.

    Meditation is just what I need to do but I find it so hard to sit…still. My days are filled with homeschooling, work, life. I could really use some direction, a little guidance, to get a meditation practice started. In my heart I know that taking time to quiet the heart and mind will open up the space for everything else.

    Hi Tess!
    I first got interested in meditating about 15 years ago, but sadly I keep falling off my meditation cushion…! Even though I love meditation and am fully aware of its benefits, I find it hard to practise regularly and consistently. Meditation has changed my life by helping me to keep calm at times of stress and generally putting me more in touch with the real me.

    I am very interested in becoming a meditator. I have recently tried, but I cannot bring myself to calm down and sit still for even 5 minutes. :( I think that is why a guided meditation would be so helpful (hope I win!) I think it could dramatically improve my life by learning to slow down enough to listen to my body & soul, which in turn would probably help every area of my life.

    I used to practice guided meditation and switched to Spring Forest qigong, Small Universe. It’s really like another form of guided meditation, I think.
    It’s helped me calm down so I no longer have anger flares and while I still have many chemical sensitivities, they are much less. I went through menopause with nary a scratch, both my mom and sister went through hell.
    Any meditation is great but for my wandering mind, I very much like to have a tape with prompts, leading me to a state of deep relaxation. So this sounds like a super program you’re offering. And I think I should win…

    I have meditating daily for the last ten years. I feel so off when I skip a day! Life became amazing when I started to meditate daily. My marriage became so content when I became content. Parenting became a joy rather than a chore, and things just seemed so much more…happy, fun, and exciting. I think a big part was letting go of outcomes and just, living it instead.
