  Wow, Tess. This is quite powerful. My two favorites are:

  “We have to wish for everyone what we want desperately for ourselves.”

  “We have to believe it’s all about love in a time of fear.”

  The first, to me, speaks of compassion, and the second speaks of love. The world absolutely needs more love and compassion. These two concepts are as close to a “magic pill” as we have in this world.

  Fear is the root of all evil. Every bad thing that is done; is done out of fear. The only way to conquer fear is through love and compassion. Thanks for being part of the solution, my dear friend.

  This is such a powerful post…and to think about what we can do. And to think…if everyone did this, if everyone believed in their hearts to all these thoughts…what a wonderful world.

  Which makes me think of very much of Louis Armstrong’s song “What a Wonderful World”.

  And I have to agree with Jay (that guy is way smart!) – love and compassion go so, so far in making our world even better.

  Such a powerful post – many thanks for making a clear list. I have just left my church group and a social services organization that were important to me. The first because the “we” just thought they were entitled without doing what was necessary or taking part and the second because the “we” kept saying it was not them and I was just “crazy”. I just headed out the door….and kept walking – being stuck never causes relief of any kind.

  Tess…during the history of mankind, there has been good and bad. There has always been love. WE forget the amazing things the world has to offer us and WE forget about the hardships that so many go through. WE are lucky to be here.

  Tess,

  I love the spirit of this post. It’s all about seeing the glass as half full instead of half empty. In my view, this is one of the keys to a successful life.

  There will always be things happening in the world that are wrong. But (and this is classic law of attraction) you don’t fix what is wrong by talking about it over and over and over again. Instead, why not focus attention on what is right?

  I think it’s quite interesting how a 90% employment rate feels so much better (at least it does to me) than a 10% unemployment rate. And yet they are the same thing!

  The way I deal with this is to do my best to avoid the news and people who want to talk about how terrible things are. Call me crazy, but I think this is the greatest time to live even though everything is not perfect. Through the internet, people now have opportunities that were not even possible just 5-10 years ago. And I am extremely grateful for this.

You understand implicitly that the way out of this is not just to understand the paradoxes, but live within them. One of my all time favorite quotes is this: “the infinite within of the human spirit.” So you knocked my socks off today when you started out with: “we have to embrace infinity inside a finite body.” Thanks.

  We’re in a changing time, and we can choose to embrace or resist the changes that are happening right now. I believe the more content we become with who we are (love), what we have (everything we need), and our day-to-day role in this world (to share who we are and what we have), the more gracious we become in accepting what’s happening around us. After all, it’s all perfect. Even if we don’t understand it, we manifested ourselves into this time and place, to see what we see, hear what we hear, and experience what we experience. We must have WANTED to be part of this. Therefore, perfection is innate.

  Hello Tess,

  As blog warning says: you will teach us to be fearless, unstoppable, bold. And this post doing so excellently. We don’t know the answers of so many questions in our day to day life whether it is economic slow down, issues in personal and professional lives, terrorism or a nation expanding the borders in neighboring country…etc. We cannot live thinking that oh! when this world will become a better place.
  I am glad to come across this and have noted this down: We have to embrace appreciation and gratitude when surrounded by unpredictability.

  I know it sounds clichéd, but after an aunt’s funeral, another freak snowfall that meant a neighbour couldn’t get to chemo, my dad’s ‘girlfriend’ rushed to intensive care last night and my own latest set of cancer results back today (they’re OK, but the relief takes a wee bit to sink in depending on how long the wait’s been) I’m just happy to be alive and able to love. Everything else is an extra, a blessing and a bonus.

  Wow. How perfect! The answer is always “LOVE”. Definitely.

  I think my part is to be mindful as I go about my daily life. Mindfulness allows me to recognize the beauty around me which allows my Spirit to blossom; then I have lots to share with those around me. And isn’t “LOVE” faith; something we all have even if we express it differently.

  A new world indeed. One built on Love, Spirit, Faith….Thank *you* Tess for this reminder–it truly is *that* easy.

  I really loved this list…especially embracing infinite opportunities and possibilities in a world that’s driven by fear and scarcity.

  This morning, my mom sent out an email to all her kids – dedicated to my sister-in-law who just passed away and it started with “Mandy loved bright colors. Her favorite colors were pink and purple. Celebrate My Life.

  When there is pain, suffering, loss – that is what we must do – Celebrate Life. That is what I am doing. And with more Pink and Purple than ever before.

  Tess, powerful list and suggestions. I resonate with so many. What strikes me is that so many of us are operating “on hold,” just waiting for things to get better. I’m reminded of people (like Anne Frank, for example) who set about making a rich-in-spirit life for herself even though life wasn’t showing the way she had hoped or planned. Anne didn’t wait and in the non-waiting she wrote, lived, loved, experienced all that she could – even in such limited confines. And because she did, we have all been blessed by her work that was left behind. May we all take each day and make the most of it. 🙂

  Hi All.
  I am learning to look beyond appearances and to be honest that took me a long while to understand what that means.
  To change the world look at what is wrong but then focus on what is possible as that is where the solution lies.
  Focusing on problems is just that, keeping them alive with your focus but looking then beyond what is possible, what you would like it to change into is the way to go.
  So I focus on looking where I see love, abundance and gratitude.
  And I see a lot of that here, amongst us.
  To echo Hilary, well done on a published article. Way to go and my ego loves knowing famous people although I know you do not like name dropping 🙂

  This posts made me stand up straighter and taller! It was like a mirror reflecting me but with more vibrance and elegance. We all have inside of us to change the world.

  Tess – some truly powerful questions here. For my part, I try to make the most of every day as a starting point. I believe that we all have a burning bright light inside that can get covered by all sorts of clouds (thoughts, emotions, conditioning). Practicing compassion towards others and the whole world around is a way to clear the clouds. My tiny contribution is to try and bring out the light a little more in others. I try every day, and fail too, but it is the best I can do.

  I think the question of whether you will do your part in particular needs to be posed to themselves by the heads of major corporations and other members of the super wealthy/powerful world – and by the politicians whose political campaigns they finance.

  The gap between rich and poor has been growing by leaps and bounds worldwide throughout our lifetimes. A tinier percentage of people than ever are now determining humanity’s future. For example, unless industry goes green, going green in our personal lives just won’t do much of anything since the overwhelming preponderance of greenhouse gases are from industrial emissions – these dwarf even what comes out of our cars (can’t recall the exact stats on this, but I was amazed).

  A high hurdle for our species may be that those with the most interest in obtaining wealth and power tend to be folks who are interested in it not for the good they can do but egoistic reasons. So overall, some pretty unenlightened people end up in leadership positions around the world…
