9 Things Bold and Fearless People Know and Do

Everyone is capable of living less fearlessly, more courageously, accomplishing their biggest dreams and having a ton of fun and laughter along the way. It’s in our DNA. Humans are wired for boldness, success and happiness. We only need to choose it, feel it and make it happen

If you don’t like your life change it. If you love your life, you have the juju to make it even more ah-mazing!

I got married when I was 17 and gave birth to four daughters by age 22. That’s a whole lot of craziness in a short time! After tolerating the insanity for several years, Hubs and I took action. We took parenting classes at the local middle school and went to couples therapy. Anthony Robbins calls this taking ‘massive action.’

I smoked when I was young and I didn’t want my children to adopt the bad habit, I quit and replaced it with running. I’ve been a runner for over 30 years. That’s wild! The beauty of change is that you never know in advance where it will take you.

I grew up in a family of 10 children. I was number six from the top. One of my core beliefs was, “You’re being left behind.” Another was, “There’s not enough for me.” Make sense, don’t they?

I dreaded the feeling of being left behind. Again, I took massive action and began college when the twins entered kindergarten. It took me nine and a half years to graduate because I only took a few classes at a time. Then I got my master’s degree in counseling psychology. See how small moves add up?

Again, when I signed up for the first two classes, 'How to Study' and 'Speed Reading', I had no idea what the outcome would look like. I only knew I had to go. I wanted better than mediocre for myself and my family. I wanted us to thrive.

Here are 9 ways you can become bold and fearless.

Acknowledge your fears. Write down your three biggest fears. Choose to embrace, understand and move through them. If this is too difficult, get support. Hire a coach. Drop your excuses. See a therapist. Get a mentor. Choose to get out of your pain and struggle.

Normal isn’t good enough. When you choose to repeat daily the same routine and behavior, the outcome is the ordinary and unremarkable. Shake things up. Break your routine. Get out of your comfort zone. Change the scenery of your life. Begin now.

Never stop learning. Make time to read or learn a new language. You are an inventor. Create interesting times for yourself. Life is like a buffet. There are unlimited options and opportunities. Put a few things on your plate. When you’re finished, try something else. Enjoy it all.

Try something new. Taste different foods. Listen to unusual music, vacation somewhere special, experience different cultures, choose the art section of a book store over self-help book. Attend a conference, experience a new city.

Only connect. Get out of your comfort zone. Meet new people online and off. Let go of all relationships that don’t serve you. Fill up the vacuum you create with brand new friendships. Don’t settle for less. Don’t struggle alone. The more people you know, the further you can go!

Inspire yourself. Watch Ted Talks, read about those who overcome great obstacles and get involved in volunteer work. You choose how to spend your time. Make space in your life for inspiration. Feeling inspired leads to taking action, the only way to succeed.

Do something you love. Dream big. Make a 1 year, 5 year and 10 year plan. Change the way you look at life. Believe the best is yet to come. Then get busy creating the future you desire. Nobody but you can stop you from living the life you desire.  It’s freedom of choice. It’s your right.

Let go of limiting beliefs. You’re thoughts create your future. You get what you believe. I healed my core beliefs. I no longer believe that I’m being left behind. I no longer feel that there’s not enough for me. I’ve replaced those with the two of my favorite affirmations: Life loves me and the world is plotting to do me good today.

Life is an adventure. Dare to push the envelope.  Build your courage muscles as you practice being bold.  Be optimistic. Choose good emotions. Create meaning. Stay present through it all. That’s my plan. I hope you’ll join me.

Tess: This is the perfect takeaway for me today: “Normal isn’t enough.” It’s so easy to live blindly in routines. But so much goodness can come when we try new and different!

Just let go. I let go of my limiting beliefs and my life has never been the same. its not that I don’t have challenges, i certainly do, but the idea is now I can overcome them.

I have experience in taking care of things, i know that what I have done in the past has worked out fine and I have confidence that what i am going to do in teh future is going to work as well.

And if it doesn’t i have confidence that I can figure something out that will work.

Thank you Tess, this post is exactly what I needed today.

Stephen,
I know exactly what you mean and it’s so refreshing. We only have to acknowledge our past successes to see how far we’ve come. It pushed me through any fear and moves me forward. Thanks for stopping by!

Normal is a setting on the dryer :-) I have been living a life as far away from normal as I can. Having given up my need to control just about everything and the illusion of perfection and simply live my mess, my life has been anything but normal. And I’m excited to live it each and every day!
