Andrea, thanks for showing me the way. I’ve learned from your courage and boldness. I’m happy we’re getting to know each other better. It’s always easier to have a friend who can help along the way. I appreciate you.

Robin Easton June 1, 2011 at 6:26 am

Dearest Tess, I am soooooo glad you finally did a video. I would LOVE to see you do more. My heart just opened wide seeing your beautiful self here. It was thrilling to actually SEE and HEAR you. Although I’ve heard you on the phone, it’s not the same as actually seeing you like I did here.

I am grateful you are in my life, grateful for your kindness, your love and incredibly beautiful and inspiring spirit. Your indomitable spirit. I love you always. Roby

PS As to what I would like to see here. I would love to see more videos, as well as more real-life stories, or simple wisdom stories drawn from your own life. What you learned through the rough times, through loss, fear, stress, raising children, what you learned as a child, what you learned as a grown woman through “life-experience”. You are one tough, bold, gutsy woman. What made you that way? What shaped you character? What has been challenging for you, and how did you deal with it? What has moved you the most in your life? You already do some posts like this, but for me they are your strongest, hit-you-in the-gut-and-heart posts. You are a magnificent soul, dear sweet Tess, and I love you.

    Hi Roby,
Thanks for all of your sweet thoughts. I’m going to give you what you want… more personal stories. Thanks for the encouragement and support! Love you Robin!

I almost didn’t put up this unedited video. The next one I’ll figure out how to edit. My ego says it’s never good enough. My higher self says, get on with it and get over yourself;)

Robin Easton June 1, 2011 at 7:30 am

Oh, my dear sweet Tess, There is not ONE thing I would change about this video. I would NOT edit it. I’ll tell you why. First off, I do not know WHAT you would take out, I never felt “stopped” or hung up at any part. It just flowed for you, was brief, to the point….AND human. Secondly, the way you did it, just as it is, allows us to see YOU.

I know so many bloggers out there that I’ve talked with on the phone/skype and then I see their videos and they are SO edited, SO stiff, SO “professional”, that I can’t FEEL them anymore. Information is still being given out, but NO feeling, NO courage, NO spunk, NO LIFE FORCE!!, NO connection is made (inside my heart or gut where it matters).

For me, I want you just as you ALREADY are because YOU are FILLED with heart and soul, TESS. It is your GREATEST strength. IT is what will move people. The more you let it out, as is, the more people will be drawn to you.

I think what the world needs more than ever is people willing to be REAL! I am right now rethinking my whole life, my whole approach, and feeling a DEEPLY strong need to walk my OWN unique path, and to walk and talk more authentically, more spontaneously, more from heart…and less from my head.

In our culture, being professional has somehow become synonymous with erasing all soul, all emotion, all spontaneity, all humor, all mistakes, all of our humanity….until we left with sterile professionalism, and a simple exchange of information. And I think professionalism is really about being honest, being real, having integrity, courage, and a willingness to be who we really are. I think the old cultural facade (or unspoken definition of professionalism) NEEDS to slip away. It really isn’t working in the world anymore. The world is staved for the REAL thing, Starved for emotion, tears, laughter, seeing the foibles of others, seeing our humanity. We need this now more than ever before in history. And YOU, dear friend, have THAT in spades. IT is the CORE essence of YOU. Know that you are seen, appreciated and so loved….as you are. In fact, “as you are” is MORE than enough. It is EVERYTHING. It is Tess at her best!! So much love, Roby

PS: I need to turn this into a blog post!! I think I will. LOL :) Sorry I went on so long. It’s something I feel passionate about. As if you couldn’t tell. :) :)

@RObin- My darling….you are so on the spot with the REAL! I agree with you completely and totally. Being a professional doesn’t mean not having a heart. On the contrary I think most successful people, who have reached a certain stage in their lives begin THEN showing more heart. EG. Bill Gates. Its only now in the recent years that he has been humanizing himself. Before he was this couldn’t be touched pesona…and now he wants to be real. He is in ads in promos on Ted talks etc. Even Huge movies stars now have to come on reality TV and talk shows to promote their movies. This is the very reason facebook has penetrated into the business stream as well. It makes the product/person/business REAL reachable accessible. Amazing how one site that was made purely for college socializing has now become the NECESSITY for all businesses.
The Power of REAL right there.
Ok lets take this talk somewhere else before Tess kicks us off her blog ;) Sorry tess…
    Love to both you darlings!

    Darling Tess,
    I just couldn’t stay away today :)
A video from dear you..WOW and WOWieee..on so many levels! I remember seeing your video on your speaking page and still remember the little tips you shared there. So beautiful :)
And here today in this video you seem so so at ease, so clear, so aware. I love it. I wouldnt change a thing. The video is perfect cause you did it form the heart.
I think more videos with more in depth thoughts of yours would be awesome. All the topics you share here, write about have the heart connection to them, which is what makes your blog my #1 peace spot online.
OK, I dont comment that often, but I read your thoughts. The amazing thing about reading your friends or other peoples thoughts is that their words stay with you always. Sometimes in the weirdest of times or the most trying of situations, those words surface, providing warmth…..magical eh :)
So please make more videos. That bold you is itching to be a youtube mega star! YAY!
And by the way…I appreciate YOU, I thank YOU for being in my life…and most importantly I LOVE LOVE LOVE you :)

Tess, this is so “you.” It’s wonderful. :) I’m with Robin, nothing to edit and, in fact, it’s refreshing whenever I see anyone just being themselves. YOU didn’t have a single “wart,” but I wanted to say… being themselves, warts and all! :) People being REAL is what everyone is drawn to. As for what you offer—you’re already doing it, and doing it so well. :)

    Tess June 1, 2011 at 3:17 pm

Hi Tess .. that was wonderful and as I haven’t heard your voice – loved it .. I totally agree with Robin and the others ..

I’d love some short stories – with a ‘punch’ line . reminding us of something important in life – as Robin says you’ve had a mass of experiences ..and snippets of those times would be so interesting ..

The video was perfect .. honestly – great clear camera .. and your voice clear too .. what more can we want .. well more!

    Cheers for now .. Hilary

Barbara Sherman June 2, 2011 at 5:39 am

Thank you, Tess. It’s nice to meet you.Your friendliness comes through loud and clear and it’s nice of you to start with a thank you. One of my favorite quotes is from theologian, Frederick Buechner, who said if we only give thanks that’s enough for a lifetime of prayer. I’ve tried listing the things I’m grateful for as a way to begin work in the morning and it really sets me up for a good day. Sounds a little Pollyanna-ish? Oh well.

Tess, you’re such a bright star in the blogging sky and I always love having you around. And that’s what I would say in response to your questions on the video – just keep being you, opening that warm heart, and giving unconditionally everywhere. YOU are the gift we need. Perhaps (if you feel comfortable) share a few stories from your life because I feel there’s a goldmine in who you are and what you’ve experienced. But above all keep being you, that’s all I ever need, and that person is touching others the world over. Bless You Tess Marshall, one beautiful human soul!!

    Dear Tess,

I’m following you since last two years and had even communicated to you earlier. But somehow I reached up to a conclusion that you respond to people according to your likes only and that really makes a few disappointed. I’m one of them. I really was hurt when I was ignored by you, a few times and eventually i stopped commenting, though I’m still a great admirer of your blog. May God bless u.

    Tess June 7, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I remember you. I’m sorry I disappointed you. Believe it or not I know exactly how you feel. There are a lot of people I follow and comment on their blogs as well. They never, never comment on mine.

I figure they have their reasons and I don’t have any idea what they are! I never asked. So consider your self admired and brave. If you still have a blog I’ll find it in Google. i couldn’t get through by clicking on your name.

The way I see it if I stop reading and commenting on the blogs that don’t reciprocate, it’s my loss because I’m enjoying them and I’m learning from them. When I really really admire them, I keep it up on my end anyway.

Now don’t get me wrong I will sometimes stop reading…it just depends.

Some things I try to remember are:
    I don’t take things personally
I remind myself that I don’t know what anything is for
I have no idea what’s going on in someones life or
why people do the things they do.

I seriously see your BOLDNESS by putting your comment out there. I admire you and appreciate you. God bless u as well.
