Happy Monday Everyone!

               Now for our Magic Monday Freebie Winner

Last weeks Magic Monday commenter is Trey from Swollen Thumb Entertainment! His comment:

“These are all great tips. I like the one about simplfying your goals to 3 a day. That’s an easy task to accomplish. And when you think about it, thats 21 goals a week, or 93 goals a month, or 1092 goals a year! Behold the power of less!”

               Todays Magic Monday Give Away …

is from my blogging buddy Eric Hamm of www.frugalsitedesign.com

In Eric’s own words, “As a WordPress consultant/designer I get to enjoy my two favorite things; technology and helping others WITH technology.  With bloggers being some of my biggest clients, I spend a lot of time in WordPress and the many themes and plugins that come with the territory.  From setup and design to troubleshooting and general consulting, I pretty much do it all.  Normally this is a paid service, but I would like to give away some of my time to one of Tess‘s readers in participation with her excellent new series, Magic Mondays.”

What I’m offering:

Not knowing the individual needs that I will be addressing, I’ve decided to present 3 packages for the winner’s choosing.

  1. Blog design assessment. I will take a look at a blog of your choosing and create a report on its design and usability.  I will share my thoughts, give suggestions and make a general assessment on what could be done to improve its all around design and layout.
  2. Custom logo/header design and installation. I will create a custom logo/header for the blog of your choosing and then install it for you.
  3. 30 minute general consultation. We can talk on the phone or through IM (chat) for up to 30 minutes.  You can ask me whatever you’d like.

If you have any questions about who I am or what I do, feel free to contact me via email or phone.  You can find my contact information by visiting my website FrugalSiteDesign.com.

You can also fine Eric on  www.Blogopolisblueprint.com where he blends his technology talent with Sean Platts creativity, a rare thing in the blogosphere. Then there is www.MotivateThyself where Eric convinces you to “grab life by the horns and never let go!” Eric is also a soon to be new dad!

Today’s Magical Monday Contest:

As a former therpist I advised my clients to use affirmations. I know you can purchase fancy ones but I encourage everyone to make their own on index cards. This allows you to personalize them put them in your own handwriting. There’s power in that!

There are other ways you can do it but for me this is the most powerful. Today I want to share with you some of my personal affirmations that always get Mondays going for me.

I enjoy the present and trust in my future. My life is an adventure that I create.

I live in an abundant universe. I choose to focus on what’s good and right in my life. I’m open to giving and receiving more.

I acknowledge the joy, wonder and beauty in my life.

The world is pregnant with infinite possibilities.

I am a strong, inteligent and loving person and I count. I own my value even when I make a mistake.

I find little things to appreciate and enjoy in all of my daily tasks.

I live in the present. I am willing to be bold and take risks and move forward no matter what the outcome.

I acknowledge many kinds of success and expect success in the future.

I am safe in the world. I’ll manage all difficult things that come up.

I release conflict and choose inner peace.

I release worry, hurry and control.

How about you? Do you have a favorite affirmation or do one of these speak to you? Please share your thoughts about affirmations in the comment box for your chance to win.

The winner will be announced later this week!

    Tess, sorry to hear about your technical problems. I have those a lot because I’m always trying new things and have to grit my teeth through the teething problems.

    You just reminded me to dig out an affirmation I used to do everyday but have lately stopped. I’m going to get going with it again. Here it is:

    “I am so happy and grateful now that I have full control of my self and my life. My home is a beautiful sanctuary where family and friends love to visit. I can travel anywhere in the world to be with those I love any time I want.

    I have wonderful relationships with the people I love. I take my mum to lunch weekly and spoil her with good meals, hotels, gifts, and word of affirmation. I am close to my only sister and give her the emotional support she needs. I spend time with my nephews to empower them with love and confidence for life. I respect and support my partner who adores me.

    I have this life of my dreams because I am wiling to pay the price for success. I am focused on becoming a better person and leading by example. I am committed to achieving the goals I set. I am a product of the good habits I have formed.”

    Funny thing, Tess. On reading it now I realise so much of it has already come true. Affirmations do work!

    Hi Tess

    Love that you are promoting affirmations. You’ll know from my site what a fan I am…

    My main affirmations are very specific at the moment, so won’t share 😉
    ( I always cop out of these types of things! Perhaps I should take a look at that…)

    I think I’ll skip using the word “pregnant” – would prefer not to encourage any manifestations along those lines 😉

    Juliet

    PS: Congrats to Trey!

    Hi Tess.

    I love affirmations. I “should” use them more than I do. I get so caught up in my day that I forget. The first one on your list is a favourite for me. And here is another one that I like. ” The more grateful I am, the more reasons I find to be grateful.”

    This is a very generous offer that Eric is offering — thanks Eric! I already have my sights set on one item.

    Hi Tess! I use the following life statement I wrote as an affirmation when things don’t get so easy. I also read it once in a while to remind myself of what I value most in life 🙂

    LIFE STATEMENT

    I will go through this life only once,

    and I shall have but one chance to live;

    Not all people will like me,

    others may even despise me,

    as I may not be easily understood;

    Yet I will take this chance to live,

    and I will reach out in ways I know;

    I will love those whom I can,

    and I will strive to understand them more;

    Not all days will bring me sunshine,

    so I will rejoice also for the rain;

    Not every endeavor will be a success,

    but I will savor the victories I achieve;

    Not all dreams I dream will be mine,

    but in time new dreams will fill my heart,

    and as from a star those hopes will propel me forward

    doing everything the best way I know I can;

    No fear shall trample me whatsoever,

    though some tasks seem to outweigh my strength;

    I will only do what I have to do,

    and God will take care of the rest!

    Juliet,
    Affirmations just work period! That’s why your blog is so great. It’s such a simple thing to do and who doesn’t want to sind praises back to the ego mind.

    Davina,
    Thanks for joining me creating life’s adventure!

    Jocely,

    I love your name! Your life statement is a big WOW! I’ve just had two very important people in my life pull away from me. Therefore

    “Not all people will like me,

    others may even despise me,

    as I may not be easily understood;

    Yet I will take this chance to live,”

    is very powerful for me. Thanks for putting magic in my Monday!

    Tess-
    I ran into your blog last week and I am amazed that you and the people you associate with and who write in the comments section take action and responsibility and are involved in your own lives! I’ve lived so long just coasting without meaning. I want to be an active participant in my own life and I am excited to start doing affirmations. I start now, today, with my first affirmations.

    I choose to take responsibility for my life
    I choose today to be aware of my choices
    I choose today to live

    Thanks for being there for me to find. Enjoy your Monday.

    Welcome aboard! There is a whole new world out there for you. It’s no coincidence you found us. I would encourage you to check out the blogs of the commenters. Like minds stick together.

    I love this idea. I’ve never used positive affirmations, but I’d love to have index cards I could use to refer to.

    Here are a few ideas I’d love to have on paper:

    I can find balance in my life.

    I can accomplish anything.

    Today’s challenge is tomorrow’s goal.

    Thanks for the idea………………..:)

  • Sara B. Healy March 2, 2009, 2:00 pm

    Hi Tess — My favorite affirmation is actually something I took from Bridget Jones. It’s a twist to the famous line Mark Darcy says to Bridget, ” I like you just the way you are.”

    I changed this for myself to “I like ME just the way I am” and put on my bathroom mirror so I could read every morning when I usually looked my worst! I made a deal with myself that I had to say it aloud, regardless of how I looked. It really helped and made me laugh many times :~)

    Lisa,
    This surprises me that you never used them. Your blog is amazing. Whatever your moving forward to affirmations would speed up your progress.

    Alik,
    I’m happy you found something and love to share!

    Sarah,
    Well how creative and amazing is that? When we love ourselves we will attract people who love themselves at the same level!

    I really like affirmations and read my cards over after I finish my meditations and healing prayer work. Here are two I wrote the year my first child was born 1979
    “On my 60th birthday, I am celebrating how healthy I am and how much wisdom I have gained in my living fully (or something better).

    “My life purpose is to integrate ideas and to creatively inspire and guide all living entities to positively recognize their unique needs and values communicating and experiencing life with respect and joy.”

    I will be 60 in August of this year!

    Why do I really believe these affirmations when I read them here on your blog, much more that a set of fancy pre-printed ones? It must be your sweet energy coming through.

    “I acknowledge many kinds of success and expect success in the future.”

    That’s the one that speaks especially to me tonight.

    With that, I shall fall asleep with sucessful expectations. Boy, won’t I have fun in my dreams tonight!

    Hi Tess – One of my favourites is:

    I cannot fix what is beyond repair. But I can create what doesn’t exist.

  • Robin March 5, 2009, 3:38 am

    Hi there Tess – when I used to do affirmations, I’d write the statement on one page of a book, and write the response my mind came up with on the opposing page. That way I could see where I was resisting and why – and I could keep doing that affirmation until there was no resistance. I don’t know what I would do, if I did them at the moment!

    Patricia,
    I think you should start celebrating 60 today! Happy Birthday in advance and may your wishes come true early!

    The best thing you can do is dream of success. It’s that easy. To many times I’ve dreamt about what good go wrong. Not good!

    Cath,
    I think that goes for what’s going on in the world today!

    Robin,
    I like how you put that. It makes sense to get right to the point and what needs to be weeded out.

    The affirmation that works wonders for me is by Dr. Wallace Wattles in his book ”

    I am whole, I am perfect
    I am strong, I am powerful
    I am loving,
    I am harmonious
    I am happy

    Every morning, I go to the park, sit on the swing and say this affirmation then times. You will not believe how it has positively changed my life.

  • Hilda March 8, 2009, 2:44 pm

    Hi Tess,

    I love affirmations and use them all the time. When I’m tyring to shift my consciousness around a particular issue I write out some relevant affirmaitons and post them around the house.

    And whenever anything goes pear-shaped my favourite (borrowed either from Louise Hay or Susan Jeffers, can’t remember who) is “All is well, no matter what it looks like. It’s all happening perectly.” This helps to restore a sense of calm and trust.

    And recently I wrote one to share with some friends to cope with the recession panic: “No matter what is happening externally, I survive and thrive.”

    This is my first time here – just getting back into blogging and following others after a long sebattical, but will be stopping by here again : )

    all the best,

    Hilda
