Expect The Best and Experience Synchronicity

According to an old urban legend, bumblebees are aerodynamically incapable of flying. Based on weight ratios to wing power and wind resistance, the bumblebee should be incapable of flight. Because the bumblebee doesn’t know that, it not only flies anyway, it makes honey!

What if you knew, in spite of our economic times, that you could not fail?

What kind of expectations would you have for your business, primary relationships and your future?
Would you be able to remain positive and calm in the midst of stress, change and upheaval?
Do you believe the best is yet to come in all areas of your life?
What ever state you find your affairs in today, you have the power to turn things around by anticipating the best.
You can choose to be proactive about what is happening in your life in order to create the kind of life you want to live.

When you proactively respond to difficulties you create solutions that will take you to the next level.

When difficulties a rise, ask yourself:
“How can I make this work to my advantage?
Who can I turn to for support?
What advice would I give someone else about this issue?
What can I learn from this situation?
What is the best way to proceed?
Know that you can create a better future by making the best possible choices in every circumstance.
Small, but very important choices lead up to very powerful outcomes.
Eat healthy foods, take a walk, stay calm, smile more and connect with friends and family.
Everyday,  choose to experience “some kind of wonderful.”

Synchronicity happens.
Be open and receptive to completely unexpected experiences and opportunities that come your way.
Wonderful moments turn into wonderful days. Wonderful days melt into wonderful years.
Own your power, make a change, turn things around by anticipating the best.
Like the bumblebee, you’ll not only fly, you’ll make a little honey along the way.

How do you stay centered enough to expect the best?

What kind of expectations do you have for your future?

Have you experienced any synchronicity lately?

    Tess,

Your analogy of the bumblebee is a bit of a light bulb moment for me. You list of questions are also very empowering and thought provoking.

More recently I am reminding myself to challenge my inner doubting self with questions similar to the ones you have suggested. So I find your post most pertinent to my life.

    Synchronicity is wonderful.

Especially when you’re in the middle of changing your whole life around, jumping headfirst into the unknown, learning to fly, and yet you feel strangely calm and peaceful about all of it…and then one of your favorite bloggers writes a post about synchronicity and how it all works out fine. :)

Thanks, Tess. You wrote *exactly* what I needed to read today.

Nice post Tess. I like the analogy with the bumble bee. The bumble bee doesn’t stop itself from doing so, even when it supposedly can’t fly. It’s like when we have struggles, even when the world is telling us that we can’t do something, if we maintain a positive, open attitude, and believe that we can in our minds, we can make the greatest changes in our lives that others would expect to be impossible.

    Paul,
Oh yes those pesky inner doubts…it’s my lower self or ego that won’t shut up on the best of days. I find myself recognizing it for what it is another thought of fear. Which I can completely let go…

    Jay,
Anytime…you can count on my support as you jump into your bold life at any time. You’re looking a lot like the goldfish today!

    Hulbert,
Isn’t that the truth. Even if things don’t go exactly as planned I’m in for an even better surprise or opportunity. It’s the only way left for me to go forward!

    Dani,
I’m glad I could inspire you!

    Suhasini,

That’s why we’re all here…supporting and reminding each other it’s the only way to go. Thanks for being on my side;)

The more time, energy and love I put into my blog the more that I get back. It’s funny how the synchronicity works.

We get out of life what we put into it.

It really is a simple equation that I constantly forget.

I try to remind myself of all the great things I accomplished when I feel down. By focusing on the positive I bring my motivation and spirits back to the level of action.

    Hi Tess.
Staying centered around desires is what I did this week. I was getting overwhelmed by the amount of beautiful heritage apples and pears John collected from the trees. Also fresh veggies are fun but need to be picked and processed. So instead of feeling grateful I got a bit grumpy about my seemingly never ending time behind the kitchen bench. Can you believe that?????
When there is no desire behind my actions they become lifeless and go wrong. When I noticed my grumpiness, I stopped, went outside in the sun (sorry folks, it is summer here) and worked on getting hold of my desires again. Then I went back into the kitchen and finished of the task in no time and in a good mood. It made all the difference.
As a result John and I had a desire filled day on Tuesday, only doing things coming from our desires.
Life flows, and that day we had a knock on our door from two lovely ladies who wanted to have a look around to see all the birds. Which was lovely as I do like to share what we have.
So there, desire is my center, my expectations are that I only do things that are driven by my desire and synchronicity happens all the time.
It happened with my alpaca wool recently.
Isn’t life delightful when living like a bumble bee?

Hi Tess – For the last two days I’ve been asking myself, “How enriching is this action I’m taking right now to my life?” I don’t know why, it just came to me yesterday and it feels very centering and positive, allowing me to easily move away from what is not enriching and move toward what is enriching. Right now I am making a big pot of soup – very enriching! I love what you wrote about bumble bees. We get the huge, black kind on the lavender and salvia. They are a joy to watch. So thank you for this joyful post. And yes, I have experienced a few synchronicities of late; I make it a point to look for them, because they are everywhere.

    Hi Tess

First off what an incredible photo!!!!
And I love how you talked about the limitations of the bumblebee, and yet it accomplishes so much!

Synchronistic experiences have also been such a big part of my life and I am so grateful for each and every one. I do not dismiss any of them as coincidence.

As for expectations for the future, I think they are very close to none….I only expect to continue on with love and awareness, and have faith that all will turn out exactly as it should :)

Two types of people in this world. Those who believe they can do things and those that believe they cannot. They both end up being right.

I love the wonderful moments line. That’s how I try to lead my life. I try not to think too far into the future. I try to make the moment as wonderful as possible. If I do that constantly, my future will be wonderful also. So, I have no reason not to expect great things.

This line was brilliant! — “When you proactively respond to difficulties you create solutions that will take you to the next level.” There has been no synchronicity in my life that I can recall lately. Challenging times are keeping me on my toes, that’s for sure. That’s okay… I’ve got two paddles so I’m going forward, not in circles.

I enjoyed this, Tess, especially the way you blended proactivity, conscious thought and synchronicity. So many folk think proactivity is only about action, but it starts with investigating our thoughts, choices and decisions. I’ve been such a synchronicity devotee for so long, it’s almost a religion. It really does become a way of life. Believing in it means being open, aware and having faith in our own inner wisdom as well as trusting signs and signposts from powers and places we can’t fully comprehend.

One of my favourite quotes from my youth, when Jonathan Livingston Seagull, the Desiderata and the Prophet were all the rage is “They can because they think they can.” It’s served me well. I’m also raising the kids on this one: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’ll be right.” What’s kept me sane over the years is one of the blessings common to all the careers I’ve had; teachers, translators, coaches and writers look for the best and ways to filter and pass on the best of what they’ve learned and experienced. When you love learning and using it to benefit others, nothing is ever wasted and there is no such thing as failure.

    Hey Tess.

    What a great analogy!

Most of our expectations come back to our attitude.

Is it possible for you and I to have a good day (whatever that means to us personally) simply because we are able to manage our internal environment better than the next person? Is a good or bad day dependant on our internal or external environment? Is it possible to have a great day despite what’s going on around us? Maybe it’s different for different people? Or maybe it’s different for the same people on different days – depending on where we are at (emotionally, mentally, physically) on that day? On some level we all understand that we have the ability to create chaos. And calm. Pain. And pleasure. Misery. And joy. Problems. And lessons. Despite what’s going on around us.

Oh Tess, I wish we could get you into corporate offices all across America to share this message. I’m using Corp American, specifically, because in the last week I’ve spent more time in big corporate offices, and it’s not a pretty sight nor a comfortable feeling. I think there’s a lot of fear, settling, unhappiness and dis-ease. I asked a guy yesterday if he liked what he does for a living, and the sigh that preceded his answer was answer enough! He does what he does not because it fuels his soul, but because he feels stuck and unable to choose differently. He believes the wings on his back won’t support his weight, and thus he cannot fly.

On a separate note, I love what you said about synchronicity. I find that these instances of being in alignment and having results manifest are happening more quickly, and honestly it just makes my heart sing!

Thank you, Tess, for sharing your boldness with us, and encouraging us all to fly!

    Hi Tess,

Your questions above really resonated with me and made me smile, because as a Coach–those are the types of questions I’m immersed in daily with my clients.

I love the gift of synchronicity, and it’s so important to trust in it…and that everything unfolds exactly as it is meant to. I see synchronicity around me, in every moment, all the time. But I only see it when I slow down enough to pay attention! If I’m lost in the busy-ness, well, then, I miss it. Which means I’m not fully ‘living.’

So to answer your ending questions, I expect only the best. And this reminds me of a great quote I have on my business website by W. Somerset Maugham: “It’s a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.” Right on! And in order to stay centered enough to receive the very best, I’ve got to plan for it: Plan for down-time in my day; plan for time to get away and lunch and chill; plan for a monthly massage, etc. Without a plan, I (like anyone else) become reactive in the moment.

Synchronicity does abound…when we’re open to receiving it. Life is magical.

I think your line, “Who can I turn to for support” is critical, because too often people think they are or feel alone. We never have to be alone or go it alone.

Truth be told, my openness and optimism is new, over the past 4 years, because until I healed myself, I was never able to see the opportunity through the challenge. It’s a special thing to have.

To answer your questions – I stay centered using a variety of practices, depending on what I need on a given day. Playing loud music, dancing, running, yoga, or quiet time.

I expect nothing but the best and great things, while at the same time expecting nothing… every step I take that makes a difference in someone’s life is enough.

    Synchronicity… I suppose…though I never considered it that.

    Karl,
I love your honesty with life’s ups and downs in the blogging world and beyond. You have a way of making us all feel normal about our own by talking about yours. And yes focusing on the positive and giving what you want to get…one can’t go wrong in life.

    Wilma,
You’re the best. Yes I can imagine being grumpy with kitchen work but it’s so great to know we can change our moods with appreciation and move up a notch or two!!

When I catch myself I only have to remind myself to “drop the story” I’m telling myself about the situation. I believe your break did that for you. We are so blessed, eh?

    Patti,
Pot of soup, lavender, bumble bees and salvia??? Isn’t life grand!!! And synchronicity on top of it all;)

    Nichole,
Yes…no reality, only perception…how quickly my ego tempts me to forget!

    Evita,
You need to charge a fee for dispensing your wisdom. I would pay! i just wrote down what you said on an index card…how quickly I forget.

    Jannie,
OK maybe we should set a date up for our meeting. What month is good for you…I’ll come to Texas!

    Dr. Kal,
Yes that is a great insight and I wrote it but you took it to another leverl!

    Davina,
You have me LOL! I love your attitude and I see that is turning you in the right direction NOW! Let me know if I can help at all.

    Lana,
What about you??? I love this line…let go and open yourself up to miracles!

    Janice,
Thanks for the compliments and your family is blessed to have you as a mother. I’ve watched you write about them, take time off when needed for them…I could go on and on but I think everyone who reads your blog knows when it comes to special people you’re at the top.

    Craig,
I was a bit confused with your questions but I see now what they meant. Yup, we have that big power to decide how most of our life will be. I’m open to the unexpected opportunities that will come up just when I think I have everything under control!

    Megan,
Comparing the bee and the unhappy corporate worker the way you did gave me goose bumps. I think we need to tell Karl to do an article on that.

    Michelle,
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll have to check out your other website. Yes life is magical and your plan needs to be taken up by all those who don’t have one!
    Thanks for sharing!

    Stacey,
I love it…making a difference in someone’s life is the considered your “best is yet to come.” Wow we can change the world with that one!

    Synchronicity
The last three days have brought a number of synchronistic events. It has brought me to your page; your page has nudged me back towards my goal, Justbeing.
Some 20 years ago, I felt that synchronicity was a means of following an alternative map, a multi-dimensional picture of a route, like signposts on country roads. You follow the signs, and then they disappear. But, they don’t disappear, we fail to notice them.
Thank you for your Bumble bee and your words.
