Warning! My blog will challenge you to be more, give more, live fearlessly, take more chances and show up in the world unstoppable, daring and bold.

Mackenzie Two Years Ago...

Mackenzie Two Years Ago...

My grandaughter has done something bold and I would love to share this with you.

Today we can either focus on gloom and doom or we can focus on the difference  young people are making today.

Which do you choose to focus on?  Where do you put your faith?

Leave a comment  here and to see what  Kenzie is doing today! I’d love her to receive the praise she deserves. Thanks!

Here’s what I wrote to Mackenzie: “What a huge accomplishment! Your project was not only incredibly thoughtful and filled with compassion, it required a lot of skills many adults haven’t mastered: planning, coordination, and follow-through. You have much to be proud of. :)

The Scouts organizations (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts) are wonderful. I can’t praise them enough for all they contribute to our lives, to those who are members and to the rest of us who benefit from the Scouts’ efforts. For Mackenzie to have been a Scout for nine years is a testament to the organization’s ability to provide another avenue of learning—and in a way that is meaningful and enjoyable!

Tess, thanks for sharing this marvelous example. Love the story! Cub scouts, brownies, guides and similar community groups inspire youngsters in ways that shape character. MacKenzie’s story demonstrates love still exists in the world. Adults often forget that children are themselves profound teachers. These are the kinds of stories that enrich prime time news, awaken local and national communities and inspire people to believe in themselves again. So long as the will exists to share from heart and soul, hope exists for everyone everywhere. Transformation is ongoing inside. You decide what kind in you.

I choose to focus on the positive. There is so much out there, however it does not make news or reality shows so we are thrown off by all of the negative we hear about. Way to go!

Congratulations Mackenzie, I am always inspired by people like yourself who do great things, as you have done. What a wonderful project, organising birthday gifts for all the dear little children who matter so much. I hope all your dreams and aspirations are fulfilled for you.

    Julie,
Thanks for sharing in my love for Mackenzie. Yeah to the Scouts as well!

    Gio,
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting to Mackenzie. It means the world to me.

    Liara,
Yes children are profound teachers. I’ve probably learned more from mine than I did in 4 years of college. Yes I do believe that hope exists for everyone everywhere. In our crazy world we have so many opportunities to share!

    Mark,
    I agree 100%!

    Rowe,
Thanks so much for participating in my granddaughter’s joy. I’m grateful!

Totally the positive side. Negativity gets press but most kids — and — people are wonderful souls making the world a better palce.

    Tess,

Congratulations! You must be such a proud grandmother. It’s so wonderful to know that young people are continuing the work of their parents and grandparents in making our world a better place.

Yay Mackenzie! (Love that name by the way.)

How proud you must be and how wonderful for her. We all could hear more of these uplifting stories–especially when they involve young people doing so much good.

Hi Tess .. I posted on the Oakland Press site and then got carried away with your picture of somebody’s daughter … with her vacant eyes .. desperate .. and commented there.

So your grand daughter obviously follows in her grandmother’s footsteps - she’s shown so much foresight in her help for others .. and will, I’m, sure be a leading light .. she has the goals, the ambition, the give attitude .. and the talent to realise what life is about ..

Congratulations to the whole family! and especially to Mackenzie: the bold and the beautiful ..

Mom, thanks for posting. Mac is definitely shining on. She has so much to share with the world, and I am so fortunate to witness those gifts.

This is wonderful. I encourage my own daughter often (she’s a high school sophomore), but she just hasn’t grasped any gusto for anything just yet - I don’t understand it - Yet I’m glad to see this young lady living and giving. She’s a wonderful example!

What a wonderful story to share. I am in the middle of my son finishing his 8th grade year and much praise is going to him also. It does make us feel good to see youth that are positive caring productive citizens these days.

This was a wonderful story. Tell her congratulations and remind her to stay this focused in life always. Some times it is those reminders that go a long way.

I love your faith in mankind. Most people are souls trying to make the world a better place. I bow down to you “enlightened one.” Seriously I agree and all need to be reminded to remember that and turn off the news.

    Daphne,
They are all over the world doing these kind and wonderful things!

    Christine,
I named her! I love it too and it fits her perfectly. We are all proud.

    Lance,
I think my daughter gets the credit for this one!

    Hillary,
I love it…Mackenzie, a leading light. (Like her mom)

    Kristy thanks for stopping by.

    Yum Yucky,
My duaghter doesn’t give her kids a choice. They have to be involved and she’s right beside them supporting them in their activities. Girl Scouts is a place to belong in our troubled world.

    Tammy Cricket,
Love your blog by the way! I will remind her always!

It’s always the case, even in the worst of situations someone will come out on top, it’s just a case of deciding that will be you. It’s like the current economic situation, fortunes will be made by those who can stay positive and see the opportunity.
