Our guest today is Rob White from Mind Adventures. I find Rob to be strong and very clear, therefore I have let this interveiw stand alone without comments of mine. Enjoy!

Rob began his adult career as school teacher. After 17 years, and a few promotions in the school system, he decided to leave the teaching profession and create a new epoch in his life. He wanted to fulfill on his dream of being financially independent, traveling the world, and owning beach homes on
the East coast and West coast of the USA.

During his two-decade journey from schoolteacher to financially independent book author, Rob kept a personal record of his experiences and reflections. He also wrote down the insights and life-lessons that he’d gleaned from his failures and successes.

Rob owns real estate income property in Massachusetts, Florida and California. He is a successful real estate developer who has built homes on both coasts. He has been a partner of several successful restaurants, and played a prominent role in bringing these restaurants to fame and success.

Rob is the first to say that the best things in life are invisible (like self-trust, harmonious relationships, and an open-minded attitude). However, if material gain is a measure of worldly success — then rob humbly agrees that he owns four homes (without mortgages), all on the water. Two of the homes are on the ocean, one is on a lake, and the other is on a pond in the middle of a prominent city.

Rob shares his success-secrets in his book, 180 and in his seminars. “There are clear differences between folks who achieve extraordinary real estate sales and folks who don’t. The difference is that those who do — know how to elevate their circumstances to match their aspirations and aims (even in trying times). Those who don't — lower their aspirations to match their circumstances." – Rob white

Rob shares his numerous learning-moments and success-secrets that life offered him while teaching school, developing home sites, co-owning restaurants. The life-lessons are available to you at mindadventure.com, in his book 180 and in his seminars.

What inspired you to start Mind Adventure?

(a) We can only keep what we give away.   (b)  We don't own anything until we share it.  (c) That which we teach, we learn.  These are the reasons I Started Mind Adventure – so that I may absorb deeper into my own consciousness, the insights, life-lessons, and sage wisdom that I have acquired on my own two decade Mind Adventure.  The aim of my Mind Adventure has been to explore the working mechanism of the mind and the nature of being a 'human being'.  There is so so much more there than our wildest imaginings can glimpse.

What about your life will I not find your bio?  I am an infinitely unique being whose potential is without limits.  Of course, this, too, is true of you and everyone else.    I commune with nature in original ways daily.  I walk through the woods and stroll around the pond, always with an eye and an ear for a new life-lesson.  My greatest teachers are 'Snow White', the albino squirrel that I visit at a local oak tree  …  and 'Henrietta', a wild turkey who loves to drop by and say 'hi' to me.  Seriously, these two wonderful beings have taught me so much about harmonious relationships (I know not where to begin to explain it).  Also, 'Shakespeare', my pet parrot of 26 years accompanies me on my strolls.  What a gift he is to me.  He sits on my shoulder the whole journey except when he decides to fly to a perch in a tree and explore something that I cannot see.  He is always noticing new things occurring, and often points them out to me (like a hawk flying by, high in the sky).

What is your best advice for someone who is stuck?

Awareness of your unawareness is empowering awareness.  What is it that you are thinking and doing that has you getting the same results you were getting yesterday (results that you no longer want to get)?  Being stuck is always simply a matter of being stubborn (perhaps unconsciously stubborn – but stubborn nonetheless).  When we are willing to let go of our fixed thoughts and closed mind; when we are willing to let go of our usual patterns of behavior – being stuck becomes an experience of the past.  That is because when we are willing to let go, we become aware of our habits that cause inertia.

You have spent twenty five years traveling to nooks and crannies all over the world, tell us about that.

I love every place that I have been for its uniqueness.  My favorite adventure is my foot journeys with 'Shakespeare" my pet parrot.  Nothing thrill me more than taking a serene walk around the pond with 'Shaky', and eagerly anticipating a life-lesson to reveal itself to me.  I am rarely disappointed.  Once a baby swan (mauled by a dog) died peacefully in my lap, with its parents sitting next to us.  They knew I would protect the swan as it passed on.  They also knew they could not undue what was done.  They accepted (with great grace) the loss.  I learned a lot about grace and  love in those moments.

Your most important values are peace of mind and great relationships…amazing, why?

I value peace of mind (inner harmony) and great relationships (outer harmony) because that is the 'whole of it'.  Life is in flow.  When we harmonious align with life by setting up a great relationship with ourselves, we experience inner peace.  When we harmonious align with life by setting up great relationships with others, we experience outer peace – sweet blessings!

Is there defining moment in your life that changed everything?

Hmmm.  There are many defining moments that changed my perspective about myself, about others, and about life.  I think sometimes some of what may appear to be minor moments have become my biggest defining moments.  Once I gave a hundred dollar bill to a homeless person who I'd never seen before and never expected to see again.  I told him that he owed me fifty change.  I told him that the next time I saw him, I would expect him to give the fifty change to me (since he certainly did not have change for the hundred right then).  I was being silly.  Guess What?  Six months later, I did see him and he gave it to me!  Wow.  That was a beautiful moment for me and him.

Do you have a new book coming out?

Raising the Banner (to the unlimited you) will be published in the winter of 2010 (I suspect).    it is a fabulous conversation about learning how to effectively R.O.A.R. (Recognize … Organize … Absorb … and … Realize  … your unlimited potential).  The reading is simple.  The illustrations are clear.  Learning to R.O.A.R.  has made a big difference in my life.  I am sharing the method with the world so that I may absorb it deeper into my consciousness.

What legacy will you leave behind?

The only lasting legacy anyone can leave (when they are gone) is 'the conversation' that they leave behind.  That is my opinion.   I hope that my conversations will have affected a few human beings in a way that they experience 'true flow' with life.  Inner and outer Harmony are the keys to living lightly and lovingly (to experiencing flow on-goingly).   If that becomes a magnificent obsession of a few that have listened to me – then I will feel wonderfully satisfied with my life journey.

    Tess,
Great guest you have here today!

    Rob,
I love your approach to life, and especially how you find meaning in the seemingly ordinary of life. That shines to the idea that there truly is much right in our own sphere that can profoundly impact us…even the seemingly smallest of things.

Great to read this today…and let your wisdom absorb into my soul…

Sounds like a man after my own heart. I too believe that our minds are an adventure that needs to be rediscovered every day. Yesterday I felt cloudy and I was resisting this feeling. I thought why can’t I feel awesome like the day before. I didn’t eat anything different, just one of those weird days.

After a couple hours I realized that I just have to be in this moment. There was nothing I could do to feel clear, so I just relaxed with where I was at. This new perspective allowed me to think more creatively. I wrote poetry, which I hadn’t done for awhile. It was a leveling up experience.

Great interview Tess! Now time to check out Rob’s blog.

I really enjoyed this. I read Rob’s blog and it was great to find out more about him. There is a wonderful warmth there. I started off thinking – what a loss to education and then realized – the school’s loss was our gain

    Rob,
What a life! I wish I lived closer to you so we could hang out and I could meet your parrot. Shaky sound amazing, and I love the name. Cool! I also liked what you had to say about your legacy being a conversation you leave behind. I can relate to this and agree. I wish you continued success and a life full of love and happiness. Thanks for being here with Tess and it is great to get to know you better.

NO WAY on the homeless guy giving the $50 change back! That is just one of the most awesome things I’ve ever heard of! (I gave my husband’s Subway tuna sandwich to a homeless guy once — does that count towards being as super-awesome as Rob??)
    :)

Tess Marshall — you are a constant amazement and joy. for the very fine people you introduce to us. Thank YOU!!!

    Hi Rob & Tess,
I really enjoyed this interview. I’m already a huge fan of Rob’s though. I always find that I learn something new when I visit his blog. I most recently learned about reaping and sowing – and I’ve speaking and crowing about it to anyone who’ll listen ever since!

I’m so happy that you love and enjoy nature so much Rob. To me that speaks volumes about your character. Kinship with all life is important.

I also really resonated to what you said about the real estate industry. If you think you can – you can. If you think the economy is against you – it is. We all create our own reality.

Thanks so much for this terrific interview Tess! It was so worthwhile.

The homeless $100 story was amazing…how you see people is how they see themselves!

And I loved this: When we are willing to let go of our fixed thoughts and closed mind; when we are willing to let go of our usual patterns of behavior – being stuck becomes an experience of the past. ( I love helping people get unstuck!)

Rob, what you’ve said about personal legacy strikes a chord with me. The conversations, the moments we share, these are what we leave in our wake. The ripples of these times will hopefully expand outwards in a circle that will encompass all kinds of people that we may never even get to know. It’s a beautiful thing. :)

Tess, thank you for putting Rob on the stage. He is a fabulous individual and expresses his thoughts and his emotions with so much prose and eloquence. I have the 180 book he sent me and I have been going through the ladders of success. He has taken a very creative approach with the book. The interview was fantastic. So much wealth that Rob has accumulated and yet so much simplicity and wonder he finds in Mother Nature and the world around him and his Shakespeare. A post that stands out for sure. I thank you Tess for another interesting introduction and I continue to be a great fan of your talents and finds :)

    Rob,
I am very interested in using more of my mind, not very interested in things more in relationships and discussions – those great connections of life. I was late to the party because I was celebrating with Librarian Daughter her first job – part time but oh how she loves books and sharing them with children so I think she is starting into her element…teaching

I will be over to your blog soon to investigate too, but moving slowly today

I love teaching…but not so much with limited vision institutions….very interesting sharing….My Father only wanted to leave enough funds for my mother to live out her life and to get a bill passed stating “Every Child Deserves and Individual Education” thirty years ago he managed to do just that.

I appreciate this interview very much – as I work through the meaning of money for me – on my journey right now Thank you both.
