    Hi Tess,
    Thank you!
Divine timing..Yesterday someone from my past asked me to help carry them a bit..I didn’t think I was strong I reached to my “team” and together we shall temporarily carry this person..
We are may we stand together in Unity..and inspiration such as what you’ve shared here shall be our motivation to continue..
I heard Simon say something like when you are too weak to love yourself I shall love you..well, I’d like to add when you are too weak to stand on your own, together we shall help you to stand…It’s very much worth “the home run”..

Hi Tess. I just discovered your blog, through The Daily Brainstorm (via your wonderful post on love). Somehow I missed you on the A-list forums, even though I’m also a member. ;)

I LOVE this video. I saw it several months ago and cried tears of joy when I did. Thanks for reminding me of it and giving me another lovely dose of joy. :)

    Hi Tess

Now that is what sports should be all about in my opinion. No winning or losing, but enjoying the games. I have pulled back from giving almost any interest or attention to almost all sports, because I choose not to support the win-lose mentality and competitive approach that is so destructive in so many cases from the teammates, to the money involved to even the parents’ attitudes of the little league teams, but these girls truly lead the way with a new beacon of hope of what sports can be all about.

Yes, we can all be there for each other regardless of the rules. Love and compassion should always come first.

I remember when this happened. I saw it on ESPN and was just blown away. Recently, here in Atlanta, the Giants eliminated the Braves from the play offs. Since it was the Braves legendary manager Bobby Cox’s final season, we were all a little disappointed.

The Giants did a small celebration, then stopped. Bobby Cox came out on the field for his final good bye, and all of the players on both teams, stood at attention to honor this great man. Sports are an incredible microcosm of life.

Have seen this in the past— I agree that it’s the ultimate act of kindness– also decency, sportsmanship, and just plain right-ness. We need more of this in the world.

    Lance October 30, 2010 at 8:04 pm

I remember seeing this a while back – and just being so inspired by what transpired. What a gift – to look beyond the score on the scoreboard…and do this selfless act of love.

Now…how can we more consciously do this in our daily lives, when someone “falls down” or “misses a base”…

Thanks Tess. I find stories like this so, so inspiring…

I love this video. My son showed it to us last year. His teacher showed it to him. I used it in one of my Inspirational Monday Movie posts a few weeks ago. It leaves you in tears!!

    Terry October 30, 2010 at 9:52 pm

I sent this to my (young) adult children tonight and told them it would not surprise me one bit if either of them did this. I know there are parents who aren’t proud till their kids are rocket surgeons, but when I watched this video and reached that conclusion, I was instantly so proud. Of us all. Forget everything else. When you know your kids would do that– you (and they) have succeeded. Thanks for the video.

Love the way sports played with heart offers us so many metaphors for life lived the same way… Thanks, Tess. And happy move!

    Elli D. October 31, 2010 at 2:59 pm

Oh, the video is just so moving, how nice of them. Thanks a lot for posting it, it is good to see there still are people willing to help even if they have to give something up. Also, very importantly, good luck (and a lot of patience) with your move. Cannot wait to see pics of your new place, the transformation right after moving in is always the most exciting part.

Megan "JoyGirl!" Bord November 2, 2010 at 7:46 am

We all need each other; as someone who’s been fiercely independent most of her life, it’s been tough for me to embrace help from others. I’m getting better each day, but after last week — when my chosen family visited from all over the world — I can feel my heart opening wider and my mind softening to the idea that YES, life is a team sport.
Thanks for being on my team, Tess. I love you!

Robin Easton November 2, 2010 at 7:19 pm

Dear Tess, this is sooo you. It just reminds me of the wholesomeness that you live and are. You live with these kind of values. It brought tears to my eyes, and just felt good in my body to see this. It is what we are all capable of. It is shining light coming through the cracks of so much “dark” news. As dear Megan said, I love you, Tess. And I think of you so often. Robin

Hello. Thank you for the video….however a request to video producers…please do not include “background music with vocals” when you have TEXT in a video. Oftentimes, when I show a video with text I have to “read the text aloud” to the congregation so everyone can hear the text spoken aloud. When there is needless “background music with vocals” along with the text screens, it is extremely difficult if not impossible to read the text aloud. Thank you.
