I envy you, truly I do....I found your page by doing a search on the term "I see no beauty in the world", because that's how I feel. I feel quite desperate about it. Without wanting to sound self-pitying, my life has not been easy...and despite what TV and the movies might say about people with tough lives, it doesn't turn us all into good, strong people, able to cope with everything, nor does it make us appreciate the good times more, when they come along. My life is much more peaceful than it used to be, the worst events are behind me now. Do I appreciate life now? No....I feel i've become a bitter, negative, depressed, anxious person. I am getting counselling now, but it hasn't helped so far. I wish I could see something that I just instantly feel is beautiful...and stop envying those that can.

Hi Tess

Because of how much beauty you give to the world, you are able to get it back that much more for yourself.

You see beauty Tess so abundantly and I can feel every drop of your gratitude in the list you made for all these beautiful things!

Absolutely love it Tess!

There is so much beauty in the world, it's ridiculous. For me it's sitting back and watching either nature simply exist or people being their great selves that really gets me.

Thanks for sharing, I've shared as well to hopefully spread the beauty :)

Oh Tess, this is wonderful! I love this phrase, “I don’t have problems only minor inconveniences.” Wow, if that doesn't say it all, what does?!

I also love happy couples --- they make my heart dance, and remind me of what I know is headed my way (and about to smack me lovingly between the eyes!).

Ohhh, and I just glimpsed Peggy's "pea" comment. I love peas, too, and see such beauty in their color, texture and taste!

Big hug & much love!

Wow, you nailed it, Tess. You captured all the big categories, and I love each and every one of them. A bounty of beauty. And I love the deeper message here, that we need only open our eyes and look, and we will see beauty before us. Why, just for today, I can tick off a bunch of beautiful stuff: an orange dragonfly, the warm sun, my husband's smile, my client's stories, the images for a collage, a reunion with an old friend, a drive through the park. And that's just a few hours worth! Thanks for the reminder, Tess.

Tess,
This made my day .... it filled my heart with utter joy! Just got back from a hard day of traveling to see a sick relative and my heart was heavy...you helped me to focus on the beauty that is all around!

So much beauty in the world:

Eyes filled with love.
The cheerful cashier at Target.
My kids and nieces and nephews who grew up so lovely.
My granddaugher's laugh.
The energy of love.
Summer evenings.
Barefoot days.
Kids in sprinklers.
Kindness in every form.
Squirrels chasing each other.
My husband's strength.
Meals lovingly prepared.
Chocolate...milky, sweet, creamy...

This is the one of the posts that really can change lives... There are so many people who I would like to show this post. It has helped me with conclusion on my last post... Amazing!

Honestly, I have a lot more good than bad things, but here's my little list without any order, and certainly not complete, of the beauty I find in the world:

1. Existence.
2. Books that I read.
3. People that I love and appreciate.
4. My family.
5. My girlfriend.
6. Great people that I did not know before my blog.
7. Sitting in silence.
8. The smell of flowers.
9. The appearance of stone.
10. Moon
11. Plants and trees.
12. The present moment.
13. Music.
14. Emotions. Good and bad.
15. Rivers that I love.
16. Clouds, stars, night and dust.

I read this yesterday (and loved the Macy Gray video, I'm a fan) but didn't get a chance to leave a comment. Now, I'm loving reading everyone else's lists.

I was just talking to someone about the beauty of being able to fly to get to faraway places. So true. The airline industry has literally expanded our horizon.

My stream of consciousness list...

a support system (friendships, close relatives)
notebooks and pens (because I refuse to write everything electronically)
conversation
bird feathers
bodies of water
sleep
tea and its health benefits
people
imagination
and blogs like yours

I could go on and on here but I better stop. Thanks for spreading beauty 'round these parts.
