You have lovely grand kids. Thanks for sharing pictures with us of you and your family. I recently shared mine first time on my blog as I was writing under pen name till now.

I have 2 younger ones to we love going to u-pick farm and pick cherries and strawberries and more. Even I get to be kid with them and really taste the fruit and not just eat it. Thanks for reminding do slow down and enjoy.

Hi Tess .. wonderful that you can share Henri’s first moments of finding his own strawberries .. picking them straight from the plant and popping them into the mouth is too delicious to think about. Your family pics are fun – but the one Caroline took of you is really good and I look forward to seeing the new project.

Oh my goodness Tess, your grandson Henri is so adorable! How fun that must have been.

It is definitely feeling like summer and the time to do all the things that make summers so great. Growing up by the beach that alway meant spending the early morning in the pool or ocean, showering, and then eating lunch while watching a movie or t.v. show. I did that on Saturday and I felt like the old summer days when you are out of school. It was great!

Wow Tess – you look way too young to be a grandma. Your grandson looked like he was having a ball picking those strawberries. And $8 an hour sounds like a pretty good wage for a 16 year old. When I was 16, I got £1.04 an hour from my part-time job – but that was a long time ago

In the UK, you have to be 17 to learn to drive. My son is 16 this year and I will be so nervous when his time to drive comes. Mind you – last night he was talking about how much harm cars are causing to the planet, so I don’t know if he will want one yet. But unfortunately we live in the sticks, so you’ve got to drive if you want a job.

And there’s nothing better than U-pick-’em strawberries…as a kid I remember picking rasberries on my grandmother’s farm…in 2003, I took my girls for the first time, to pick rasberries on great-grandma’s farm…and then eat them with angel food cake and vanilla ice cream…YUM!

Mom, some of my fondest memories are the times I remember picking strawberries, blueberries, and rasberries on grandma’s farm, at Aunt Jan’s or the farm on the way to Grand Haven. I long for that sweet, freshness that overwhelmed my taste buds as a kid. Fruit in the grocery simply is not the same. Thanks for sharing the photos of my sweet nephews and niece.

Your story reminded me of my own youth. We used to grow quite an impressive garden every year (a small farm really). I can picture myself bending over a row of strawberry plants, feeling the warm summer sun on my back hitting every inch of exposed skin. My tastebuds are tingling with the pleasure as I sample one of those really small but really red and super juicy June-bearing strawberries. Yum.

It’s the moments like those that money can’t buy.
