How many women do you know who love, listen, and act on what their body needs?
I grew up with 6 sisters. All whom I thought were taller, thiner and prettier than me. I was the short one, with wild hair and plenty of curves.
I really didn’t appreciate my body until I began running when I was 27 years old. At the same time I quit eating red meat. I marveled at the physical changes that took place almost immediately.
Today, I continue to run, walk, hike and golf. I continue to struggle with consistent weight training. The one message my body has for me is “Strenghten your bones. There is no time to waste.”
This one action would take me into my final years without breaks and falls. I commit to strength training twice a week for the next 6 months. By that time it should be a habit! I’ll let you know how I progress!

I haven’t been all that friendly to mine as of late, but that is turning around now. A shift is happening and I’m noticing good things. I try to drink as much water as I can. It’s one thing that always has the power to make me feel better. My body is currently asking me” Do you really think looking at the treadmill and weights is working? I also realised yesterday that I’m spending too long online; it’s affecting my neck, my eyes, my posture and my general wellbeing.

Hi Tess .. I keep saying I need to walk down after I’ve seen my mother .. everytime I intend to start .. another challenge arises, when I need a car to carry things backwards and forward to the hospital or the Nursing Centre .. so I don’t – but as you say I must. Fortunately I’ve been pretty active through my life – so with any luck the basis is there ..
I will get on and do something .. when it stops raining!!

I have read everything Dr. Northrup has written and was at a book signing for the first printing of Our Bodies, OurSelves.
I am back up to 5miles walking 6 days a week, and hope in the next few months to get back to weight lifting 2 times a week. In the afternoons on very wet days, I do my Wii sports or Wii fit and that is so helpful. Tearing this ligament that hold my gallbladder, stomach, and spleen in place has been a very traumatic experience for me.
I have a horrendous genetic disorder which has manifest itself in cancer a number of times. I keep working at it and am writing on 12th about a local inspiring woman in my city who is healing herself.
Dr. Northrup makes me feel not alone…and she has answered several question via email for one of my friends.
