11 Practices to Rock Your Faith and Ditch Your Fear

faith not fear

It’s a choice you know, to let go of fear and choose to feel happy, safe and free. Reflect for a minute on the past week. What was your main fear?

Did you fear for your safety, or not having enough time, money and love? Have you noticed how we recycle our fears?

What if we learn to recycle our faith – faith in love, faith in our capabilities or faith in world peace? Doesn’t that make much more sense?

Notice how you may let one fear go but you soon pick up another.

Don’t allow fear to consume you, hold you back from taking risks or trick you into a life of unhappiness. Fear is disguised as hesitation, an excuse and opting-out of new experiences.

Fear is hiding under self-judgment, comparison and envy. Fear holds you in a pattern of self-doubt.

Track your fears. Note what you fear and when. Awareness is the key to change.

Fear can be debilitating but faith brings hope and calm. Let’s choose to have faith and feel happy, safe and free.

Faith is empowering and it has its own rewards. Think of the feelings you have when you have faith in yourself, faith that you can do the job, faith in your future, faith that all is well.

Think how you feel when you have faith in your loved ones, faith in your work and faith that the universe is plotting to do you good.

Could losing our fear be as simple as choosing faith?

Practice 1: Faith-based stories. Build up your faith by creating stories about what you believe in. When fears creep up, remind yourself of your faith.

Fear scenario: I’m so overwhelmed. I can’t do this. It’s too hard. I don’t understand it. Faith scenario: I have faith in myself.  I see myself in a Divine flow of love. I feel that my life is in Divine Order.

Practice 2: Push through fear with penguin steps. When you feel held back by fear, continue on with small steps. Penguin steps move you forward.  Just take one and then another. At the end of the day you’ll be surprised at your progress!

Practice 3: Look rejection and failure in the eye. Know the wors- case scenario and note how you’ll get through it. Embarrassment and humiliation are emotions that come from our thoughts. Don’t flinch. Don’t back down!

Practice 4: Ignore the predictable, comfortable journey. Pay attention to what you’re talking yourself out of? What do you really want to explore and take part in? What have you put off for a better time? Take one step today toward something new. Your future is based on the actions you take today. Be bold.

Practice 5: Make every day new. When you choose to live life in the present and confront and overcome your fear, life is exciting, you feel empowered and you fill your life with curiosity and wonder.

Triumph over life, choose courage and confidence. Choose to believe in yourself and others. Choose faith over fear.

Practice 6: Trust yourself. Own your brilliance and your magnificence. Reflect on all of your successes. You have an amazing future ahead. Like Dr. Seuss says, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”

Practice 7: Know what you want! You’d be surprised how many people don’t know. How do you want to spend your time? Who do you want to spend it with? Where do you want to go? Take time to discover your answers. Go on a treasure hunt. Finish with a chest of gold!

Practice 8: Create mantras.  “In this moment I am safe. All is well with my world. I can think and feel something different."

Practice 9: Pay attention to how you feel. If you are afraid you will feel confused, rushed, frantic and controlling. If you are have faith you will feel clear, hopeful and empowered.

Practice 10: Shift your perception. Choose an optimistic attitude about yourself, your life and your future.  Expect the best. Bet on yourself. Choose to take a trusting, calm and honoring journey.

Practice 11: Crave life.  You have to live life to the end. Feel the world. Explore. Be with people. Do the unusual. Take the crooked path.  Take things too far. Because it’s possible, right?

Tess, I loved this passage: “Fear is hiding under self-judgment, comparison and envy.” So true! I just love how you brought that out right in the front. I also really enjoyed the “penguin steps” idea. Great inspiration and great encouragement. Thanks Tess!

I love this line, ” Push through fear with penguin steps.” This is a wonderful list of ideas, Tess. Choosing faith is the inspiration to cross that line to be bold and go for it. Thanks!

Tess, thank you for this! I love how you named each step a practice. I think this is so fitting because it is a practice and a process of love to keep flexing our love and faith muscles. Thank you for the reminder that subtle shifts can create radical change.
