7 Tips for a Fearless Life

fearless

Fear is a thief. It will steal your time, energy and dreams. It makes you anxious during the day and keeps you tossing and turning throughout the night.

Fear is crazy-making; it taunts and depletes you. It keeps you imprisoned, depressed and lifeless. Fear steals your joy.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You have the freedom of choice. Make a decision today; choose to take your power back.

Don’t let fear win. Choose to take action. Choose adventure over your comfort zone. Choose to give your attention, time and energy to your dreams. Choose to be unstoppable!

If you’re looking for ways to make different choices but don’t know where to start, you may find these ideas helpful.

Visualize life without fear. How magnificent would your life be? Write out a description of your best life. Make a mental movie and give yourself the leading role. Rerun your movie as often as necessary.

Have faith. Do you have faith in your fear or faith in your ability, talent and wisdom? We never lose faith; we only misplace it. Believe in possibilities and opportunities. Believe in yourself. Believe in your higher power, the universe or God. Believe that you have a part in making the world a better place.

Delete mental garbage. Give up your negative affirmations. “I can’t do it.” “I’m not as good as the others.” “I don’t have time.” “I’m not smart enough or qualified.” Replace the garbage with positive self-talk and affirmations.

Identify and use your resources. This can include your mastermind group, spiritual practices, strengths, skills, books, classes and anything else that will give you the courage to be your brilliant self.

Take action. Do your most important tasks at the beginning of your day. Don’t get caught up in busy work. Stay committed. If you veer off course, begin again. If you make a mistake, begin again. Keep going and you will reach your goal.

Persist and persevere. Don’t become discouraged by a previous failure. Instead use it as a learning opportunity.  Answer the following questions: How does this make me stronger? What opportunity does it give me? What is the next move I must take? Press on!

Trust the process. Learn to trust life. Trust that things have a way of working themselves out. Trust that the right people will be put on your path. Trust that you’ll pick yourself up if you fail. When you trust the process, you’re able to live in the present moment without worrying about the past or the future.

We were born to take risks, explore, grow and expand. We are meant to be out there living our dreams and making the world a more loving place. It’s time to let go and give life everything you’ve got. That’s my plan. I invite you to join me.

    Hi Tess,

Great information here. I love “Take action.” The morning is my best time as well to get things done. I have a burst of energy once I’m up and I find that I can accomplish so much more in a shorter time span. Wonderful as always!

      Cathy,
I’m like you. Always a morning person. I have to make myself stay in bed at 3:00 am.
That’s a farm girl for you. And then at 7 pm I start wilting. haha.

Thanks for your kind words and support.

Trust the process. First Tess I do want to thank you for helping see my fears and dealing with them. It is wonderful to feel free.

I Think the biggest is to delete the mental garbage. Once we delete that it is like a clean slate we are working with and we have the choice of writing the story that we want. Have to love that!!!
You have a wonderful week and hugs to you,
    Debbie

    Hi Tess,

This morning, I tuned into a message for a client and the message was about being bold. After reflecting on it, I believe the message is as much for her as it is for me in a current situation. The message about being bold made me think about you 🙂

About a week ago, I shared a quote from Paul Coelho from my FB page. The quote says, “A boat is safe in the habor. But this is not the purpose of a boat.”

Thank you for another great post!

Thanks for these reminders Tess! I’ve recently let fear hold me back and I hear your words ringing in my head. Today I made the call I’ve been dreading. I’m not done with my little issue but I’m on my way to solving it.
    Thanks!!
    xoxo
    Betsy

Good for you! I’m still holding your vision of 0. xoxo

Wonderful post Tess! Fear is such a crazy thing, it feels like a protector at times and so sometimes it’s hard to see when it’s holding us back. There have been occasion when I have used fear to motivate me…the fear of not finishing, the fear of holding people back, the fear of not having this opportunity again. One thing I do know for sure, it seems that the minute I take action, the fear disappears.
    Thanks for posting!

      Marnie,

Yes I know what you mean. Life is passing us by when we hold back. That’s what I try to remember!

    Tess-
When I read your posts, I feel a mix of ‘smiles’, being energized, and thinking ‘you’re spot on, Tess’.

All of what you say is so true. It is always helpful to ‘hear’ them through your distinctive voice.

I’ll add on one last thought ~ ‘Don’t be afraid of sharing your fears with those close to you.’ xxoo-Fran

    Fran,
You’re so kind! I so agree with telling someone about your fears. There have been studies on how healthy that is. I’m always telling on myself to the people close to me. I love being able to say I teach what I need to learn. I’m right there with all peeps walking through to the other side. Thanks!

Learning to trust the process was a huge one for me. It meant letting go of my futile attempts to control things I couldn’t control. Einstein said that we each choose to see the universe has hostile or friendly. Choosing the friendly option helped me build that trust. Great article, thanks.

Trusting the process is a hard one for me too. I have recently had to really just trust in a higher power that things are working out the way that they are supposed to. I feel like I am fighting the current sometimes. I know holding on and and not trusting that things are going to work out is what is fueling the fire of fear to hold me back, but trusting is easier said than done.
This post is just what I needed to read. Thank you!

Oooh, I love that you mentioned to trust the process. One of my coaches said this to me when I was getting impatient with myself a few weeks ago. “Just trust the process” is such a powerful mantra and if we keep that in mind – if we can believe that everything will work out the way it’s supposed to work out – we will not only be much happier, but also ready to let go of our fears.

    Hi Tess,

It’s been a while… 🙂 I’ve been busy preparing for the next stage of my work – which is supporting widows on their path from grief to growth. That path is definitely leading through fear as well, no doubt about that…

Anyhow, I appreciate your profound tips, and especially the reminder about the significance of making a choice. As we tune into the most important choice for ourselves (such as the choice between fear and faith), and then commit to living in alignment with that choice as best we can, living gets more simple and life gets more bold, that’s for sure!

    • Tess The Bold Life April 7, 2013, 7:33 am

      Helena
Wow that’s wonderful and important work that you’re doing. Being a widow is my worst fear. I’ve been married for 41 years and can’t image living without him. But that’s love and life. Right?
