Let Go of Fear Today

Create a new story

Let go of fear today.

If you lie awake at night worrying about your children, your health, your finances, your relationships, your job or your immediate future, stop!

Recognize the story that you’re telling yourself about each scenario. You stories are limiting beliefs that you create, repeat and live out.

Stories like…

“I can’t do that.”

“It will never work out.”

“The cards are stacked against me.”

“There’s not enough time.”

“I’m too young.”

“I’m too old.”

“I’m not smart enough.”

“It’s too late.”

“The good jobs are taken.”

“Nobody loves me.”

These fear-based beliefs are false. They cause you to suffer.

Let go of your fear today.

It's an empowering choice that will set you free.

Learn to recognize the storyteller in your head.

Are you willing to change the storyteller or are you addicted to the old stories and the drama?

When you change your story, you change your life. The beauty of your story is that you are the author. Give yourself permission to rewrite it.

Learn to expect the best and anticipate good things happening. Tell yourself that story!

If you need a job, believe there is one waiting for you. If you want a soul mate, expect that you’ll find one. If you want to change your diet, anticipate enjoying new foods.

Track your fearful stories. Take notes. Evaluate how your stories are hurting you.

Release your old story and the layers of false beliefs that you’ve carried for too long. Let it go.

Write down a new story. Include the truth of who you are. Write about experiencing more joy, peace and happiness. Fill in the story with details of who, what, where and how.

Support your new story with the positive. Choose a loving attitude. Allow love to flow in and out of your life. Honor and respect yourself.

Create joyful connection and meaning. Choose to surround yourself with happy people. Be kind and find a way to serve.

Give yourself permission to make mistakes and be imperfect. It’s impossible to get it right 24/7. Learn, forgive yourself and move on.

Be free. Let go of comparing, competition and complaining. You’ll gain a sense of peace and well-being.

Each time you repeat your new story, you’re one step closer to the life that you desire. And that’s something to be excited about!

    Hi Tess,

“If you lie awake at night worrying about your children, your health, your finances, your relationships, your job or your immediate future, stop!”

Living in fear doesn’t move us forward! Great reminder to live our new story. Take care!

      Cathy,
I think every mom in the world lies awake at some point and worries about their kids. I can’t speak for men because Hubs never did. He’s too wise! He would say to me, “The ball is rolling and you can’t stop it. And the sun will rise and the sun will set again tomorrow!” Ha

I love the idea of writing down a new story! My sentence fragment today is “I accept….” and then fill-in the blank.

  • Tess February 19, 2013, 5:28 pm

    Sandra,
Me too! I’m rewriting a story tonight as a matter of fact. Details and all.

    Tess,
I love your question, “Are you willing to change the storyteller or are you addicted to the old stories and the drama?” I chose the new storyteller! And I love supporting the new story with positive, too.
    Great post!!

Thanks for this huge reminder Tess…it is perfectly timed and will help me tame my fears around starting over in middle age, living on my own, and right now, tackling projects that I want to invent, take on and complete, because I am so good at talking myself out of happy challenges because of my old story. Thank you, thank you, Deborah

    Deborah,

You have a positive outlook about all of those transitions. That in itself will make it more meaningful and joyful. Wise! I love the thought of calling our fears happy challenges. You rock!

This: “Each time you repeat your new story, you’re one step closer to the life that you desire.” Creating new neural pathways, new habits, replacing the darkness with the light.

    Thanks for inspiring me!

So true! I’ve been involved with a challenging family situation for the last few months. Over and over, I have caught myself writing a story full of fear and judgment and anger. Over and over, I have made the effort to drop that story and tell a different one, one of acceptance and trust and gratitude. With more challenging situations, sometimes I have to repeat the process frequently, but every time, it brings peace and freedom. Great post, as always. You are the queen of fearlessness!

It’s our own fears which hold us back from truly living and enjoying life. Though no one can be certain of what the future holds, our fears make us believe that the worst possible scenario is the most likely one!
    Thanks for sharing,Tess!

    Hi Tess

I’m Tyo, Indonesian psychology student and your articles such an enhancing experience toward better future. My new story always having a dynamic, it’s upside down. Down when people don’t support me about my passion. Learn from them, and your article I realized this is my story, I made it by myself not others. I determine myself to achieve it.

I always dreaming having a job as psychologist who serve in police department. I determined myself deserved to have it. It show results, at 2011 local police station asked me a favor. I thought it just 3 months voluntary work, but today it become one and half year work yet still continuing. I do enjoy it, I find myself so fit in protect and serve service. Caused my work, slowly but sure police officer asked me more than a favor. A simultaneous favor, means I have to enrolled myself after completing bachelor degree in psychology into police corps to keep maintain my help through all police members. Most of people even my family doubt it, but things change when you believe it change. No matter I wear a glasses today, I know it but small miracle happened as most of them ask me to join police corps.

That’s all my share 🙂 hope I can send you one of my photo wearing my own Indonesian police uniform

    Wish us all the best.

Definitely good advice. Let go of the old patterns and behaviors that are holding you back and start every day saying out loud everything you’re thankful for, no matter how basic. Thank you for running water, a roof over my head, heat and air conditioning, food, clothes on my back, etc. You’ll be surprised how much of a positive effect that can have. Thanks for posting.
