Hi Tess, I was worried yesterday and I told myself: “Accept that things won’t be always perfect and flawless. Allow some mistakes or failure as that’s how we grow.” I felt relief after changing my thoughts. And your article came at just the right time! More helpful tips to overcome my fear, thanks~ πŸ™‚

I thought wow 75 how does Tess come up with such so many ways- then I read through and recognised many that i use and sometimes forget to use- I good list to put where I can see it when the feeling takes a grip.
    Thanks

    • Tess March 23, 2012, 5:43 am

      Suzie,
We’re all on the same path so that doesn’t surprise me;) It’s the little things that we can do when were stuck in fear that make a difference. We think we need to take a big leap most of the time but we don’t. Have a great weekend.

  • Fran Sorin March 22, 2012, 11:13 pm

    Tess,

There are so many jewels in this post that I don’t even know where to begin. ‘Believe the world is going to send amazing things to you’ is the one that grabbed my eye this beautiful Friday morning.

This list is a keeper. πŸ™‚ Fran

    • Tess March 23, 2012, 5:44 am

      Fran,
What is your mailing address…I’ll start!

  • Aileen March 23, 2012, 12:09 am

Tess, you are my inspiration for fearless living. I’m not yet fearless, but you give me hope and a vision so it can’t be too far away from being reality!

  • Tess March 23, 2012, 5:44 am

    Aileen,
I think you’re doing fine! Nobody is fearless. We all keep marching on and working through our fears. Including me. I’m going to do something this weekend that I’ve been putting off. Wish me luck;)

Fear IS the key to unlock our potential. Great Manifesto, Tess. One that I am sending to my printer πŸ˜€ Thank you.

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:46 am

      Vidya,
Thanks for the assurance that what I write helps!

  • Karen March 23, 2012, 8:40 am

This is my personal favorite and helps me get past fear:
Know that you can manage even when difficult things happen.

The list is awesome – it should be required reading every morning.

  • Rose Byrd March 23, 2012, 12:02 pm

Numbers 22 and 27 are the most challenging for me, but the ones I feel I have progressed in the most during Lent this year. Dozens of the other points are ones I was blessed to me trained in from an early age. Bless you a list that I am saving forever and will refer back to often.

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:47 am

Those are everyday practices for me!

  • travelyn March 23, 2012, 4:53 pm

I think you’ve nailed it. We so often live with fear of this or that, if only we could grasp the fact that it might never happen. Just reading your list made me feel better about myself. Thanks.

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:47 am

      Travelyn,
So true. Glad you liked my list.

  • KenWert@MeanttobeHappy March 23, 2012, 8:55 pm

This is a great list, Tess! For me, the best antidote for fear is action. If I fear doing a thing, I step toward it. If the fear increases, I step toward it with even more determination to face the fear and conquer it.

Thanks for the help in making the mental/emotional shift so we can better take those steps into our fears and send them scurrying into the shadows of obscurity!

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:48 am

      Ken,
I love your boldness! It’s contagious.

  • Evelyn Lim March 23, 2012, 9:27 pm

Excellent list to let go of fear! I need to be constantly reminded to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Yes, action helps!

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:48 am

      Evelyn,
We all do. Sometimes a break is needed and we can rest and breathe!

  • andrea March 24, 2012, 8:45 am

Thanks so much Tess for this list! It was very uplifting. To get through my fears I journal daily and tell myself that fear is not fact and do it anyway.

  • Roger Tudor March 24, 2012, 9:30 am

This is such a wonderful post Tess. I was wondering how could one possibly show us “75” ways of being bold when fear clutches you, but I was amazed that you mentioned the most effective ways, and now it seems that even 75 points are not enough here. I guess I should follow point no. 42 now. πŸ™‚

Thanks for sharing this lovely post.

    -Roger

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:49 am

      Roger,
Yes contentment is one thing. Profound is one that never leaves us. It’s an everyday commitment and some days I’m off;)

  • Sibyl March 26, 2012, 4:40 pm

Great article. I love, love, love the list. What really spoke to me was #53. I think that’s a great suggestion and it is amazing how just lifting your attitude and enthusiasm can get things moving in the right direction. I actually was just reading another post of Paige’s with a similar recommendation so this message must really be for me today:)

    • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:51 am

      Sibyl,
My friend Evita told me a couple of years ago…Don’t write unless you feel joy! So when I don’t feel that way I do something to increase my joy factor before I begin. Going out for a long run now.

  • Cathy | Treatment Talk March 27, 2012, 6:20 am

    Hi Tess,

This is an amazing list! One of those that should be printed out. Fear can stop us from living our dreams, so it is important to face our fears and move through them. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Tess March 27, 2012, 7:51 am

    Cathy,
I think I’m going to expand on this list and see what happens. Thanks!

  • Betsy at Zen Mama March 28, 2012, 7:52 am

Great tips Tess!! This is a print out post!!

  • Peggy Nolan March 28, 2012, 11:45 am

I hope you are doing well my friend!
