[...] Not unlike Blanche, we can get derailed by what we believe ought to be truth about life: that it’s easy and effortless, and gratification is immediate. In fact, those of us who align with the bright qualities of the magician archetype may be particularly susceptible to shady magicians who promise the quick fix, the bewitching panacea for unending joy and riches. Just last week Tess over at The Bold Life wrote a splendid post about this topic: “The In Crowd vs The Within Crowd.” [...]

Thanks for joining in. We often think as prayers and blessings as "the only thing I can do" when in fact it's the best thing to do. Or even the most powerful!

Suzen,
I love the reasons you blog and yes it's silly those techno fears that tempt us to leave our passion on the table!

Peggy,
All reading your blog resonate with your wisdom within! Thanks for being a part of my blog!

Walter,
How wise you are...believing in you ability to make your own unique mark in the world, also being skeptical of products and finally knowing there is no quick way to success.

The only quick way is to overcome fear, make mistakes, learn from them and take further action. If personally we are quick learners and refuse to stop and hold ourselves back we'll get there faster.

Davina,
I agree with Patricia as well. Well put!

Megan,
I heard Chicken Soup authors say "We can raise our prices as fast as our self esteem allows. I think internet marketing guru's have an internet advantage and capitalize on those who don't. It's neither right or wrong.

I think we rely on others and depend on others too often. I'll always check on prices on and off line for what resonates with me and what I need. There are all kinds of methods to learn and a zillion people to learn from.

I'm not saying getting a good price for services and products is a bad thing. I think it's necessary to pay. However like James Ray's workshop I'd like to know what those people were expecting for 10,000 dollars.

Jodi,

I agree I feel for the all affected by the event. The thing Rey did at the end of the event was use a scare tatic. They are experts at this and even practice their performance on stage. I'm glad your friend grew from what she paid for and learned and was wise enough to see through his closing techniques!

Caroline,
Yes I think it is an amazing journey when we are our authentic selves and learn and grow with each other in a trusting manner.

Vered,
That's the part of raising kids I miss the least. Being stressed out due to thier peer pressure. I don't think I could get through it today peacefully. Not even with all my skills...I'm being very honest here!

Jannie,
That's how I think of you...My Soul Shining Sister. You coin the best words!

Jessica,
I think being myself is difficult to express when I'm frightened. There will always be people and events tempting me to do otherwise.

Pamela,
Imagine the good we could do with all the energy we spend trying to fit in or holding back? Mind blowing thought, eh?

Chris,
You're right many don't have their own authentic sleves figured out. And for the Cobain story you said it all...it's all our made up fantasies that the cool or gurus are everything and know everything.

Just another ego play.

Zeenat,
Thanks for the smiles and light. I'll get back to you later with the other idea. My daughter and grandson are visiting!

Hillary,
Thanks for your words of wisdom my friend!

Stacey,
That's funny! I love the quote and need to remember it regularly. Writing it on an index card!

Karl,
Another good point...what we have time for...many gurus add so many bonuses that there is no way I'd have time for them all. It's like paying for something that will stress me out.

Robin,
Your wise and your blog shows it. As a counselor when referring someone to others I gave more than one choice so they could make their decision on their own.

I count you in as authentic as well my accountant blogging friend.

Nice one, Tess. I've always thought of 'our' online community as an ocean of 'within people', made up of unique waves, ebbing and flowing, calm or stormy depending on the weather. Sometimes every seventh wave seems bigger or crests more spectacularly, but an ocean needs every single one of its waves or it wouldn't be an ocean.

Ironically, I often think of us all as the 'out' crowd as well, given that everyone we hang out with online has publically declared their hearts and spiritual 'preferences' to the world!

One of the reasons I continue to enjoy blogging is meeting people belonging to the "within crowd". It is such a blessing to be in their company, to learn things, to share things, and to know that what they're sharing is authentic and true. Lance is one of them, and Tess of the Bold Life surely is, as with Daphne of Joyful Days. Nice work guys, carry on!

Hi Tess - I love your "within crowd" concept! Count me (with)in! I and my blog qualify - of that I am sure.

On the expensive personal growth seminars - I have done a few, and I believe they can be worthwhile. We just need to be discerning, as with any expensive purchase. When I had very little money for several years, I just didn't do them - I believe we can find what we need whatever our budget is.

I also think any quality personal growth program teaches people to go within to find guidance - there are lots that don't (some are very big on the ra ra go get it, with no thought about why one would want to get it.)

I've been very tempted to buy a lot of these products. They look so tempting. I've refused because I've found that I prefer a real live interaction. I do pay a monthly fee for Ittybiz program called SpeakEasy. I don't regret this because it's only $24 a month and I've learned a ton.

We need to check in with our own hearts. What we really have time for and what we really need to succeed.

I love it. If I join you as part of the "within" crowd, does that make me part of a new "in" crowd? :-)

I came across a Chinese proverb once (I think it was a Chinese proverb) - "Relaxed is who you are, tension is who you think you should be"

Trying to be part of the "in" crowd is tension...going within, while at first appears challenging, really is so much more satisfying and "relaxed".

Hi Tess .. me please too!! My hand's up for being part of the "within crowd" .. and yes I joined Lance and Joanne in their amazing project and from their lead, I am quite sure we can all go out and benefit others .. developing our own styles and ideas.

I hate doing what other people do - just because they're doing it .. I like to join in with others and share things: but I do like to be individual.

The net is a dodgy place - but you learn .. and actually, now there are blogs you can take suggestions from blogs that you like, people from the "within group", and check out the information .. and then buy if you would like to - or keep a record for a future purchase. Ask others on their findings on the product, or conference, or leader etc but particularly pay attention to Evita's comment on personal discernment .. and do you need it now?

Thanks Tess - great post ..

Hi Tess,
I am in the club..i am in the club..I want to be the "within" crowd!!!
Such an awesome idea :) What fun to have all like minded bloggers unite. Lance as you mentioned is doing such a great job with the ebook..its inspiring.
Doing from "within" gives new meaning and deeper dimensions to even the most common of acts. May it just be a smile...but given from "within" lights up even the saddest of faces :)
This is my "within" smiling at you and hugging you for sharing such a wonderful idea with us. :)
Lets all be the IN "within" Crowd ;) !!!!
Lots of love
Zeenat.
p.s. I love the idea of the interview for your blog to promote the Online Counseling on my blog. Let me know how we can proceed further on the idea.
